158watts from 8 cxb3590. Is something wrong?

Hi,

Just starting my first DIY LED grow. I managed to wire up everything and was excited to fire it up only to find out it only puts out 158watts (~20watts each) I'm using a kill o watt meter.

Driver is HLG320h-C1050b
Cobs are cxb3590

does this sound right? I thought it would be putting out around 400watts.

Thanks in advance :)

tell us about your dimming circuit

at full tilt with leads open it should be putting out about 300W and drawing about 315-320 from the wall

what do you mean by 'taped off'?

are the leads shorted or is the circuit open?
I would say the circuit is open and is not using dimmer. And it does not sound right that 89ers is expecting it to be drawing 400 watts from a HLG320

I didn't do anything to them. I just put electrical tape on each lead to make sure they don't touch each other.

I made a picture to illustrate my wiring. Top drawing is what I currently have it at and maybe it' has something to do with the low output

You should have it wired like the second option not your current option so they are 1 loop from + to - in one circuit. Usually if it's not wired correct the driver won't start up.

I rewired everything to a series circuit and it is now showing 343watts =), so it looks like that was the culprit.

thanks guys!
Glad to hear it.... ha ha ha hate to say it but you we're the culprit! Lol:bigjoint:
