Sorry to have high-jacked this for a fan/filter discussion, but it was a challenge for my setup so I'm always interested in what others are doing.
Kevin, one idea is to look for a spot away from the grow cabinet where a stronger fan and filter could be placed (an adjoining closet, attic, basement), and see if you can run 4" or 6" insulated flexible duct from the cab to that spot, where the fan/filter can be placed (it will need electricity, obviously). This has the advantage that if attention is drawn to the fan by the noise it will look pretty benign.
Insulated duct is great for noise dampening and easy to work with. I split a 50' piece of 4" and used half for the inlet and half for the exhaust. My fan is in a smaller cab beside my grow cab, but I use the flexible duct through a fake wall that puts both vents far from the cabs, and completely eliminates noise coming through the from the vents. Some warn not to push through filters but it's working for me, I just keep a small dust filter over the exhaust vent inside the grow cab. The next time I have it all opened I'll take some pics and maybe start a new discussion.
Looking forward to your next update, Cannon-balls.
