18/18 Light Cycle For Veg

Can anyone give me intel on the above my buddy wants me to try this light cycle because apparently it sexts them or something, but i'm thinking it might be too much dark for the smaller seedlings that I started 2 days ago, the others are alittle over a month old, just wondering if he has any valid good/true; point to it I should be aware of before I do it or bad of course, (24/0) cycle atm, or should I stick with my regular plan 18/6 for veg thanks in advance brothas bongsmiliebongsmiliebongsmiliebongsmilie

In order to safely keep your plant vegging, you have to have a good buffer from the 12 hours zone, thats why people keep their plants under 18/6 or 20/4 or 24/0 but never 18/18. That makes no sense and you would confuse the shit out of the plant and would induce flowering by having 18 hours of darkness. Tell your buddy to do some reading before making a stupid decision.

LMFAO thanks for the reply xD I was honestly thinking it made no sense aswell for time but he did grew a few like that though Lmao, under a hps aswell

If he wants to make sure he has females then yes, he would have to put them into flower (12/12) until he sees pistils show, then go back to the 18/6 to re-veg them. But don't go 18/18 you won't accomplish anything other than possibly turning the plant hermie. Plants like consistency. So if he wants to see what sex they are, 12/12 until he sees pistils or pollen sacks then right back to 18/6 or better yet 24/0 to speed up the re-veg.

Here is my advice, it is purely based off opinion, I don't have a degree in this.

The most light plants get in a day in the wild is about 15 hours, 16 hours in some areas. Over millions of years of evolution, I feel like the most the plant can take in is the most light nature would give it where it grows wild. I have tried 24 hours of light, 20 hours, 18, and 16, and I have never noticed a difference in growth as long as I am doing things right. I do not believe that a 16/16 cycle would encourage sexing, however, I have never tried it. It is certainly worth a shot, it would not damage your plants in anyways besides some very slight photoperiod stress. If it is wildly successful after a few test runs, I'd be interesting in hearing the results.

Growing great pot is a science, but in my real world experience: science can be pretty loosey goosey.

Thank you guys I have to go with 18/18 is wrong but I remember something similiar to the gas lantern routine but it was a different way i'm guessing he could of misinterpret since it's very easy to by the looks of it lol, if anyone else has heard about a 18/18 veg cycle for sexting/quick please do leave another reply

Don't visit Alaska, you will find out there are places that have longer than 16 hours of daylight...

Lol, I intentionally omitted arctic regions, since pot won't grow there naturally except maybe ruderalis, but that is irrelevant in a conversation about plant photoperiods. Tropical areas get only 12, what a pain in the ass that would be.
