studys have shown that if you use 18/6 when they start growing their frist set of 3 leaflet leaves that you will get more females. buts its kinda like POtato poTAto, or TOmato, toMAto. either way they will grow. but from what ive read 18/6 in early stages tends to produce more females. look on the dutch passion website and they have a bunch of factors that produce more females.

i left my light on 24/7 and out of 8 plants i got 5 female thats more then half.

Anyway back to the subject, use 24/7 if you want them to grow fast, if space is limited and you want them to slow down use 18/6.

ok well..... its personal preferance.... all it is like most things in life....some people say if you leave it on 24 hours they grow faster.... some say 18/6 is better cuz plants need time to metabolize the sugers that they make during light time.... either one is fine and will give you great results... ive seen the majority of people use 18/6 so thats what i use i fuigre if so many people are using it something has to be goin for it but either will work.... another note 24/7 = more money but its up to you...if ur not tight on money and u wanna see if it makes your plants grow faster then go for it. if not then leave it the same. you will see little diffrence either way

I belived that 24 was the way to go a long time, but then someone reminded me of the goal. When we grow indoors, we are trying to recreate nature as best we can. Unless you live in the Arctic circle, it is going to be dark for at least part of your day. Now when I paly 'god' indoors, I act more like 'gods' master plan.

do you pay an electric bill?

18/6 is going to be cheaper...i think this is the reason the majority chose 18/6, as 24 has been proven to make plants grow faster.

http://www.softsecrets.nl/_public/SSUK2007-03.pdf (takes a while to load, a long fuckin while) Please have Adobe Reader to view. 24 hours light. If you had a car, would you roll on 18" inch rims and have a 6 hour curfew? or would you roll on 24"s and party hard til the breaka breaka dawn? SERIOUS PART: 1. Speed, Plants will grow a LOT faster, you're taking away 2 days a week total with an 18/6 light cycle, hindering them from a week of growth at the end of the month.. you spend an entire month doing 3 weeks of growth, YAY! .... besides, clones need 24 hours of light for the best survival rates. Roots grow in the dark, sure, but roots contribute considerably to height (which you want to reduce), when the plants sleep, they start getting taller bro.. they will get a height on you that's out of control. You want them short, thick, fast = More bud and sooner it comes. I did 18/6 for 5 weeks, sucked... 24 hours for 3 weeks, got more out of them then the fucker I let sleep, it just stretched, no matter how much I cramped it. 24 HOURS. ED ROSENTHAL SAYS SO! (see .pdf)

Yea i agree with PlatinumKasse. My two mothers i have going right now are doing awesome under 24/0. In not even a month from seed they have grown about 2x the same as 18/6 cycles, i have done in the past. Idk i would say go 24

if you wanna grow 24 hrs you must have co2 tank bro lot C02

Co2 consumption has almost nothing to due with 24 vs. 18/6. co2 is neccesary for plant growth, but is not a limiting factor untill the light and nutritional needs are met. If everything is perfect during early growth the plant will use more co2 at 24 hr., but in no wat does 24 hr. light make co2 enrichment neccesary.

you guys tho the reason people do 18/6 is not cuz they like thier plants to grow slow, but the roots grow during dark periods so by never giving them a dark period you roots will not get as big and bold, and the roots are what feeds your buds, i did 20/4 lighting to get the best of both worlds, im debating trying 18/6 next time cuz im not in to much of a rush but i dont know 20/4 has a nice ring to it:mrgreen:

i dont agree with that at all though, why wouldn't the roots realize that there is an intense light cycle and that the roots need to grow to handle and consume the light, water, and nutrients, so they would grow nige long strong roots.
