I had been using my aerogarden pro with this light fixture I have now up until this afternoon..
Alright so I went to the store today and saw these tubs with lids, they were like $2 so I decided to buy a set, I got home and tested out this airstone with my 15 gallon pump, I was just going to throw 3 thai super skunk seeds in it on 12/12 from seed.. But I was really impressed. I have been getting really tired of how hard it is to move my AG res around. Plus this has equal water depths for all of the plants, the only thing it lacks is a drip system, which I will probably rig up soon. Plus this base is layered with mylar.. =]
The tub is clear-ish green, you can't see shit in it with water in it, but I duck-taped the entire bottom bin to light proof it.
Its a 1 gallon res, which Is exactly the same size as my aerogarden, but flat, and less bulky.
I have a 40 gallon pump in there with a 10" round airstone, there are tons of bubbles.
Also, since the res is really wide and short that means the water level won't matter as much, plus if it ever gets really low the airstone can just spray water because of the massive pump I'm using.
Its really convenient to mix nutes because I can just put them in the jug and dump the entire thing in there, its so easy to work on my plants and res.. just take the lid off and stick it in an empty one for the time being or just pH'd water while you clean out the res or add a new airstone.
I really liked my aerogarden at first, but I started getting a more and more complicated setup and it wasn't really worth all of the extra work and space.
So here are the specs...
1.5 gallon res (1 gallon line at the very bottom of sponges res is light proofed.)
40 Gallon air pump
10" Round airstone
Nutrients: Foxfarm Hydro Trio
Veg Lighting: 4x26w 6500K CFL + 2x42W 2700K CFL (10,800 lumens)
Flowering Lighting 4x26W 2700K CFL + 2x42W 2700K CFL (12,200 lumens)
So yea, both fem seeds have started to poke out of the shell, the bagseed plant is not feminized so I can exterminate it earlier if its a male. I will be taking clones from this plant for some friends, so the extra veg time should be fine.
If anyone has any simple drip feed systems let me know...
Also.. I was thinking about trying a scrog with this.. would that be possible?
until next time...
