1st DWC 400w HPS/MH Paradise Vertigo & Pandora Autos!!!

if it were me,id put the rock wool directly onto the net pot then fill it w/ hydroton,i did that for my 1st grow in dwc and it couldnt of came out better!,sorry to hear of yur misfortune on tha one seedling

Does anyone know if the pH of a solution can..."zonate"? My readings seem to change as I move the meter around the tub, and with depth. I feel like this should point to the meter but its calibrated and brand new.

Also, the light is on 24 hours, as they're autos I figure this is cool, no?

I'm having the same issue with my pH checker. I'm assuming it's a Hannah Checker?

ive never heard of a reservoir (zonate)....u can leave lights on 24/7

hi just came across this thread and seems very similar to my grow 400w dimmerable lumatek dr90 tent 80litre dwc growing pandora/vertigo started with 5/3 forget which is which 2 didnt make it so left with 6 from what i can see i have 4 of 1 and 2 of another. started just over 3 weeks ago and all showing flower sex. will be changing to bloom nutes tomorrow and this is my second grow 1st the exact same setup but used a 250w hps and grew auto assassin yielded just under 2 oz and il diavolo and himilayan blue diesel which looked the part but small yielding under oz per plant. hoping that these are true to there word will be happy if they can yield 2oz + but we'll see. i bought ph meter and ec meter half way through last grow and so much better, but will not be doing autos again after this run going to try the normal strains i have some whitewidow fem and some sour kush (headband) reserva privada and plan on growing bigger yield bigger.

And I think I have root rot. I'm questioning whether I should keep going or start over, I'm out of funds and as much as I'd like to buy some roots excellurator I just cant. And I have algae. Fuck.

They grew a lot from last update, though. The Vertigos look good (besides being really small), and the Pandora WAS looking good, but now it's wilting really badly and has stopped new growth. (NEWER PIC SHOWING WILT COMING SOON)

Two days ago I flushed with pH balanced tap water and 29% H2O2 (I forget what dilution, but just lower than the recommended amount for 35% H2O2).

Let that sit for a day, and changed it. Added 13 ml/gal Hygrozyme, and 1/3 strength Grow Big.

pH is 5.7, ppm ~400, res temp: 69*, room temp: 78-82*, rh: 45%.


I'll get a pic of the roots soon. They're not "brown" but I would say some are "browning" and it looks like they've stopped growing.

Any insights on what my plan of action should be? Thanks a lot in advance, I'm really needing some help right now!

most likely u have algae because yur hydroton rocks r getting wet and r exposed to the light emmiting from yur grow lamp,i never let light into where my roots are so,ive never had that problem,id spray sum peroxide on it if i couldnt google and find a homade concentrate to kill things (bugs & fungus),if it were my grow id b searchin the net rite now cause,its gunna spread & get worse pretty fast.

There was 4 Vertigos and 1 Pandora by Paradise Seeds. All auto. One of the Vertigos is long gone, and the Pandora is almost dead too. The #4 Vertigo is shriveling up, but #1 and #3 are still looking pretty good (#3 the best). They're really small, but if they even make it all the way I don't think I'll nab more than a few grams total. Kinda bummed since these had high yield stats from Paradise and I really wanted to test their claims....but with all the problems in the first 2 weeks I knew they'd be really stunted, and then the root rot and algae...

Here's the update for DAY 27...(pics to follow when I get home):

Like I said, looks like I have 2 Vertigos left that looks like they'll possibly make it. Pulled off tons of slime and dead roots from all the girls yesterday. To my surprise there were still a decent amount of healthy, white roots under the slime, and actually some newly developed ones poking out the sides of the baskets.

Threw the 400w HPS bulb in, as they were starting to chuck out some pistils and hairs. Drained the res and refilled with half-strength Tiger Bloom and Big Bloom (~5 and 8 ml/gal respectively). Added 3ml/gal Hygrozyme (I KNOW I KNOW, you're not supposed to use it with the organics, but at this point, fuck it haha).

Considerably hotter with the HPS bulb...res temp ~69*, room temp ~80-82, humidity ~30%.

Little wanker of a pH meter, these Hanna Checkers are though. I just can't seem to get it to show consistent readings, no matter how often I calibrate it. What are you guys doing when you store yours (with the lil cap...dry? water? solution?). Because for $40 (make that 80 since the first got wet!), they're crap.

pH is somewhere in the range of 5.4-6.4, so whatever.
ppm around 550-600


I guess for now I'm just gonna roll with it and hope the two stronger looking Vertigos make it (for fucks sake, I'd even be happy with 1 g total...).

For the root rot, I'm gonna be de-sliming the roots daily. Other than that, I have about a res change worth of Hygrozyme left, and a bunch of 29% H2O2.

Thinking I'll try and do 2 weeks on this res before changing it. Anything I can do in the meantime? Or should I blast them with H2O2 for a day with no nutes when I change the res next? Or add H2O2 daily in the meantime? Hygrozyme? (I know the H2O2 and Hygrozyme kill anything benficial and eat the organics, but hell, conventions seems to have jumped out the window on this grow).

is this yur 1st grow or 1st dwc grow? if yur new to growing you should have used soil,many more problems arise in hydroponics,i researched dwc a lot b4 i did mine and i didnt have one problem go wrong with mine.......i even started feeding them 3 days old when 95% of people i talked to told me not to...i REALLY hope yur last 2 vertigo's survive as well as the pandora,lottsa luck to ya,its gunna b a challenge if u got rot and algae tho!!!!

Ben sound like u got the shit stick this round so sorry to hear that........That Dwc set up u have there looks dank as fuk still i think.... but ya know whut I am doing my first hydro grow also and I have have bunch a problems, nute burn and whut i was calling sun spot, from where the drip ring was kackeling water out and it got on the leaves and burn.......then my light was too close then too fan, ventilation and temp control.....just relax and if they go I know I would be rippin too but start over...do u know even where thing went a rye???????and when u say day 27 do u mean since the beans cracked????? i Only ask cause they r auto's ya know....

dude you are messing with them too much. when they were young you shouldnt have moved them. theyre roots would have eventually found theyre way into the res.you dont have to help it along. also by changing your res so frequently you are stressing her. the constant temperature change, ph change, and just disturbing the roots causing more stress than necessary. you should only change your res once a week. using h202 is a good idea. next time just let them do thier thing. marijuanahas been growing for thousands of years without mans help. just leave the poor girl be next time.

up your h2o2 should clean up your roots. keep res temps between 65-70. dont be afraid to use more. it will clean that shit right up.

It's funny you said that, sk8, to just leave em be...I had to leave for about 5 days, so I fixed up the pH and nutes best I could, and left them. I came back and they'd exploded.

They're (the 2 left) are flowering now...really small since they stunted growth at the beginning, but I'm glad I fixed the rot problem (I'm actually gonna write-up about that soon).

Greenhydro...nah, I've grown in soil before and outdoor, first time hydro. I just didn't set it up enough, didn't research the proper way to start the seedlings with rockwool, and quite honestly I wish I used 5gal buckets, and not a huge reservoir....and fucked up from the start with a couple things.

I'm going back to soil though, next time. I've gotten 2.5 zips dry off an AK-48 Auto under a 150w HPS doin organic fox farms nutes and I'm a soil guy at heart anyway. Mama I'm comin home!

Oh, and today would be Day 41 FROM SEED...just to clarify. They all went into rockwool either later the same day the taproot popped, or the next day, so that's what I count "day 1" as.
