damn i though only clones needed the humidity in check and i didnt think i would need a thermometer but anyways do you think you can tell me what i really need to keep my plant looking healty i going to check that moonshine i looking for some high in thc not somthing thats going to put me to sleep though
well ya I mean if wanna grow some bomb herb then ya gotta have your shit together. I dunno how much dough you're working with, but if you got like $300 get a small grow tent (I got for like $100 online somewhere), 4-inch fan/carbon filter/fan speen controller (htg supply!), and cool water humidifier (vicks is a good brand). Also you gotta figure out a way to get that little light very close to the tops of your plants without burning the crap out of them; you could check out my PHATTY AURORA INDICA thread to get some ideas on this! You can veg in a closet ok, but I recommend a grow tent for flowering, unless you wanna build something yourself (it probably wouldn't be much cheaper though). You're gonna wanna shoot for a nice sterile environment with good cool airflow; small closets are just too "stuffy" for flowering IMO, especially if you're using hps.
Your gonna have to do some more research on the whole growing process and stuff if you wanna grow some great buds. Use google, get some books or videos (think youtube!). Jorge Cervantes has certainly been known to help get started so look him up! Hey if you've got the internet then you've got the whole world at your fingertips, and you can learn how to do practically anything you want!
One more tip for ya - if you're looking for a more upbeat high you might wanna look into a sativa dominant strain instead of an indica. True you can harvest an indica a bit earlier to get a more up high, but in general I don't think potency you're looking for will be there. Now an early 75% sativa/25% indica strain, say, harvested early when only a few trichomes are amber and the rest are cloudy - that'll blast ya to the moon! Its a lot of fun for sure, but personally I prefer to be a drooling vegetable when I blaze, and that's why I'm all about the kush. Also don't pay too much attention to those thc percentages seed banks give for a given strain as they are not entirely accurate. I personally find smoke reports from growers a more reliable indicator for the potency of a strain, and if you find something that sparks your interest look at how THAT person grew it out.
If you got no idea what I'm talking about with trichomes you're gonna have to look that up too (but that's harvest time stuff, so you got a while).
All the research and stuff might seem like a big pain in the ass, and the learning curve might seem a bit steep if you've never grown anything before, but just like everything in life it will soon become second nature to you. Just look around here at RIU, at other peoples grows and stuff, and you'll see the evidence for yourself, that when it comes to growing you own bud, the old saying still rings true: knowledge is power!
