Hey everyone I too am using the SH system with the feeder tubes. It's a 4 planter though (I added the water pump to the DWC order). Despite all the mistakes I made early on my first grow ever, I seem to be making progress. On the left side I have 2 White Widows and on the right I have a Crystal in the front and an Ice in the back. Not quite sure why some roots have taken off while others haven't. I will be adding in 3 more airstones after I write this.
Ok so my questions:
1. How tall should my plants be before I start flowering?
2. Should I have picked strains that grow shorter because of my SH setup with the plants fighting for space?
3. When should I top my plants?
4. Should I try to bend each plant away from each other at this point?
5. What are telltale signs that they are either male or female during vegging? Do mine look like either yet?
6. Would it really be worth it to add some extra side 42W daylight CFLs even though I got a 400W MH above it with the sunsoaker?
7. I'm using full strength SH grow nutes, just changed to it yesterday. I'm guessing that's fine at this point?
8. There is a scaley skin coming off all the bottom portion of the main stem, is that just a sign of recovery?
9. I messed up in the beginning but are these not so bad for a little over 5 weeks?
10. I never thought about putting foil on the bottom but thats a pretty sweet idea, can photosynthesis occur on the bottom of a leaf as well as the top?

#1: Depends on your space. When you start the flowering process you plants grow double in size. So look at then now and think how tall they would be if the doubled.
#2: Also depends on what you want Sativa= energetic high and tall plants Indica= Put you out high with short plants. I have 5 Indicas in my Bubbleponics right now here is a pic.
#3: You can topp begining at the second node. If you want to topp your plants right now go for it they are big enough. I dont recommend topping during flowering thoe. Thats just me.
#4: Bending or lst(low stress training) can be done very early. SO if you heat desires go for it. Just dont snap eum go easy.
#5: If you start to get lil white hairs by growths its probably female. If your plant starts to form little footballls then is a guy. Most plants dont show sex untill flowering unless they are autoflowering stran or have been veged for awile.
#6: It wouldnt hurt but i dont see the point. You have a 400watt MH wich is plenty of penetration for 3 plants.

#8: If leafs are healthy and plant is healthy dont worrie about it.
#9: They are a lil small for 5 weeks. But they will recover dont worry. Pic of mine at 5 weeks below.
#10: IDK about that all i know is that the foil help reflect light so putting it on your lid ensures that light wont get to your rez and will be bounced back up towards the plant.
