Thanks man. Post a link to your grow so I can check it out. People say to change them every grow because they can get weaker as time goes. Especially if you are running them for long periods of time. I am sure they would last for at least 2 grrows but just to be safe I''d change them out.

I figured two grows also. Unfortunately I don't have a grow going right now besides my small outdoor plants. Thinking about either a CMH or a CFL grow.. hard to decide.

Well I hope you figure it out. It really depends on what your trying to do. I have seen amazing results with CFLs so far but I am always open to try something new. I will actually be flowering next grow with an HPS + CFL so we will see how that goes.

My buds are starting to develop nicely too. Maybe I can journal my next grow. Glad yours are turning out nice BG. I'm jealous, I'm a few weeks behind you still. You need to send me some of your harvest to hold me over until mine comes in!

Cant wait to see those ladies flower. You definitely have to start a thread or journal next grow. Don't be jealous man...I have done nothing special. I don't see how anyone couldn't accomplish something just as good or even better.

Any help or advice, don't hesitate to ask. Keep on growing bro.

Nah, just playing jealous over the time difference. Growing is a great way to learn patience, if nothing else. I can't even begin to describe how much I've learned this 1st time. So many mistakes, yet each one teaches something. Cool, ain't it?

You are right about that one. If you are patient growing ANYTHING will be hard lol. It is very cool though learning something every day. Luckily I had some people on here to help me make my first experience smooth sailing. I haven't made too many mistakes yet but I do learn something new every single day. Gardening is such a fun hobby.

I'm very tempted with CFLs I just don't see myself being able to produce a QP from just CFLs.

With the proper wattage, environment, supplement of nutes and depending on how long and how many plants you grow, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to produce that.

Well how many plants do you think can be grown under the 6 cfls you have? It just seems like I would need to buy a lot more CFLs for 5 plants, although I may be wrong considering I just hopped on the CFL scene

I recently got 3 zips from 7 plants under three 42w cfls. I'm sure 4 oz could be easily achieved with a few more bulbs (and more space).

There you go kolz...Xebeche only had 126 actual watts. So I'm sure if you had around 400 actual watts and a decent size grow area you should easily be able to produce a zip if not more per plant.

damn thats crazy for just three lights, do you have a journal? Anyone know what brand of CFL is best or are they all pretty much the same?

As I said...four oz is definitely do-able in a small to med-sized cab. Eight smaller-sized plants, or four medium-to-large sized -- or somewhere in between -- would get you there. I really like these cheap reflectors (http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-100664506/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053)...I feel like they do help focus more of the available light towards the plants.

Don't know if there's much of a difference among the various CFL bulbs. I used these for flowering (http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-202067799/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053) because they're easy to obtain. You'll want to use at least a similar wattage (but diff color temp - 6500K OR 5000K) for veg stage...and always keep the bulbs pretty close to your plants (at least within 4-6 inches of the canopy), since the light from CFLs doesn't penetrate very deeply.

Xebeche nailed it! ha ha just follow his advice and you will have a successful garden TRUST ME! I will be feeding my girl today with just pure rain water and then monday (starting of week 6) I will start using full strength nutes for last couple weeks. Be posting pics later today so stay tuned!

Hey what type of light can i use for flowering? sorry its a noob question but i want to make sure i know it has to be 2400k and i heard u can use ,cfl,mh, and right now cant get a hps light :/ if someone wants to reply pm me plez,rep for u

HPS or CMH bulb would be preferable along with CFLs(around 3000k). You could also you LEDs

Just seen at Lowes a 65 watt CFL !!!!! Its enormous, but, self ballisted and screws into a regular light socket. They where $16.98 a piece. Think I might buy one to test it. But I had one of the sales reps plug one in and JESUS was it bright !!!!

I bought 2 of the 40-watt ones and they are pretty damn bright too. Plants LOVE them though. $10 a pop for bulbs makes my wallet hurt though.
