Lookin good man, I like a good experiment... Curious how the PBFs do vs the standard soil.

How are the flowering ladies doing? Is the HH kicking into gear yet?
They are indeed. HH's colas have doubled in size each of the last two days (granted they were pretty puny to start with so this isn't that impressive, lol. Mites came back last night so when I pull the girls out I'll take pics.

Nice, looking forward to your pics.
Keep hitting those mites, they trick you into thinking they are under control then... Bam! they have an orgy and flip the finger at you, lol...

Just hit all my ladies with azamax today, will hit them with habanero in a few more days...

It's just such a bitch since my room doesn't have walk around space. Wish I had another Docktor doom bomb at the house. Don't wanna do this shit tonight. feeding & spraying all 9 girls takes me a few hours

Yeah, it is way easier battling the mites when plants are small. I am treating them as if they are infested for the next 3 weeks...
next up neem drench, then back to habanero...

Well last night I said fuck it and smoked up. Haven't heard back from the union hall yet so yeah. Besides I had restless arms and legs so smoking was my only hope. I also said fuck it regarding spraying last night so I'll feed and spray tonight

Hey guys,

So here's the pine bark fines I promised I would take a pic of. The coin in the photo is a dime - reflection made it so you can't tell lol.

Nice, looks like good stuff. I will try to track some down and mix it with my leftover supersoil to prepare for a possible outdoor grow. As I mentioned before it is acidic stuff so some extra dolomite lime might be a good idea.

Ok so as you could probably tell from the pictures in my last post, I mixed up my PBF blend. I opted not to make it a super soil blend. Ingredients are:
4 cu ft. (~30 gal.) Greensmix pine bark "mulch"
2 cu ft. (~15 gal.) Fox Farms Ocean Forest
2 cu ft. (~15 gal.) Cedar Grove (local) organic potting soil
~10 gal. Perlite (larger grain)
1.5 lb. Mykos
2/3 cup dolomite lime

Note: the organic soil and ffof both had perlite already. If I was using some soil mix that didn't I would mix in more perlite at a 1:3 ratio perlite:soil. Since FFOF has some yum yums in it, the PBF blend should have a mild food supply for vegging period. I think I'll be using my Jacks classic all purpose during veg and Jacks Classic bloom booster for flower. I might change my mind on that and use a dyna-gro veg nute for both veg and flower based on the article from garden web that pointed shared. We'll see. Once the clones in rapid routers are ready I'll be potting them in 1 gallon pots for a couple weeks, then into the 5 gallon pots they will stay in for the rest of grow. I will pick two strongest clones of same strain and grow one in PBF blend and the other in a FFOF/Cedar Grove organic 1:1 blend so I can evaluate how well the PBF compares to a rather common soil blend. Here's a shot of the PBF blend.

Also just planted some beans a buddy gave me that i started soaking Monday night. I really wanna find out everything I can about the PBF blend so I planted 2 seeds of the same strain - Jack Herer x (Jack the Ripper x Purple Urkle) in two different growing mediums. One went in my PBF blend and the other in some black gold seedling potting soil. The goal being to see if the PBF blend is suitable for the youngins or not, and if so how well they grow in it compared to soil. Also planted a Sweet & Sour Widow seed from same friend in PBF blend. Here's the ready seedlings.

I've decided on a new way to plant my rooted clones and beans. I will be planting in 12oz. clear solos, and then placing each clear solo in a 16oz. red solo. This allows me to monitor root development and even watering needs. Can also check where the water perch table is in the growing medium. Lastly the outside red cup shields the roots from light. Here's how it looks:

Finally, I recently did a clone swap with a buddy and today I transplanted the girls from their solo cup to there 5 gal pots. One is jillybean, and the other is Jack Herer. I skipped 1 gal because they were already rather large to be in solos anyway, they had become slightly pot bound. I have one more clone (purple kush) that was part of the swap, left to transplant. It's in a slightly larger container so it wasn't as urgent, but it needs transplanted soon.

Welp, that's it for now!

Looking really good man, I like the clear solo inside the red one to monitor root development... I am going to steal that idea.
