1st Grow DWC/Bubbleponics

Ok this is my first...I started out with this...

-5 Gal SH DWC System
-150W HydroFarm CFL System
-Tri-meter
-Fox Farm Nutes
-5x NL Fem'd

Since I only have 5 NL i'm only doing 1 monster & hoping to just take cuttings off of that into like a 6 planter Bubbleponics system from SH, and not touch another seed for a while............

And here's where I am now...

I ordered a DarkRoom120 & 2 - New Wave T5's. 4' footers (yea i went for the biggies cause i'm hoping for a big girl) & 2 bulbs each. I ordered T5's with 4 veg lights (6500k) & I seperately ordered 4 flowering lights (3000k) for u guessed it...flowering time.

So I'll have the 150W Hydrofarm CFL system I already had directly above the plant, & I'm going to hang a T5 vertically on each side...U CAN DO THAT RIGHT??? (just hopefully the DR can handle the weight)


I don't have any kind of ventiliation for the DarkRoom except for a medium fan but one of the only reasons I needed it is because of hanging. Would I can't make holes in my ceiling for lights. But now i'll have this in case I want to upgrade later with an HPS & a good vent system.

I'll post some pics of the DR-T5 setup when it arrives. But here's some of today, about 2 weeks from seed....

I see at least three new threads a week on here, saying

I strongly urge you to spray a good pesticide (I use Home Defense) on the floors, door, entrance, walls, all around your grow area. It will dry, not smell or stink and you'll be safe from bugs.

You should also make sure there is NOTHING from outside the house, like tools, flower pots, soil, etc, in or near your grow area.
If you don't, you'l regret it later.

just thought i'd update with some pics, 3 weeks from seed.

pH of res is still raising to 7.8 every time I bring it down to 5.8. Can't find the little ammonia packets the Roseman was talking about for this, & charcoal in pantyhose didn't work, so I have a feeling it's from the hydroton that I thought I rinsed thoroughly but apparently not.

I'm trying to get another 5 gal bucket to rinse with plain pH water & hope it works & doesn't hurt anything.

here's an update. received my t5's & DR, But I'm getting some yellowing on the new leaves and there is a little brown spot on one of them so i'm curious as to what that is.

My pH won't go past 6.7 which is an improvement over last weeks 7.5. So I think the rinsing of hydroton worked a little. Still needs more but hopefully this one will grow at the current pH. Am adding SH pH down daily (to about 5.5) but still creeping up to 6.7 by the next day


It's between 3-4 weeks & I've been using "don't bug me" and following the fox farm hydro feeding chart (google it). I haven't seen any pests under leaves or anywhere else (except for like the first week there was a little brown ladybug-type thing but since I pryed him of it's been looking real clean. Here's some looksies to see whats up...

Oh one more thing. I was keeping PPM at about 1200 until a couple days ago when I switched to spring water & recalibrated nutes. Now it's sitting at about 920-950 as you can see by the meter. I might have been over feeding up until now and maybe that's causing the yellowing so we'll see. But I don't know why ff's feeding chart would say to keep that PPM. Oh well maybe the chart is just too strong for "our trees"..

lol another thing...

How could I get the maximum yield in this setup without using the fancy methods with screens & scrogs, etc. I know of topping, but how many times can this be done & would it be a reasonable choice with this setup? thanks
