1st Grow Ever. Bagseeds and CFL's in My Closet

When you feed every other watering without flushing, all those nutrients can build up and create salt deposits. No bueno. The flushing process takes out all of the old nutrient build-up out of the soil. After the soil has dried out a little from the flush is when you can re-apply the nutrients to the medium so they are fresh and don't build up. You don't have to flush after every feeding but don't go too long without a good flush!

So would you recommend flushing maybe like every 3 weeks or so? With a 5 gallon put I'm guessing I would use about 10-15 galons right?

One problem I'm having now is temps. As the summer heat turns on the tent keeps creeping up in temp too. Today it got up to 85. I usually have a big oscillating fan that blows air into the closet but sometimes I forget to turn it on. That is my problem. Even though I am exhausting into the attic, if I don't use that fan to blow air into the closet I think my temps will get to 85 and probably up to 86 or 87. I would actually prefer to keep the closet door closed and not have that fan blowing air into the closet at all. So my idea is maybe getting an inline duct fan and bring air into the closet that way. I'm looking at either a 4 inch 80 cfm model, or a 6 inch 250 cfm. I would have to cut a hole into a closet and bedroom wall to run it into the closet. So I have some questions? How loud are these little inline duct fans? One of the main reason I want to keep the closet door shut is for noise suppression...And then say I have the fan pulling air from my bedroom into my closet...do i duct that air all the way into the tent or just into the room? My ultimate goal is to be stealthy and have ideal conditions for the plants. My system isn't loud now as it is, its actually quieter than my bathroom exhaust, but don't want it to be too much louder if any.
Does anyone else have a problem like this?

what temp is it outside the closet? i assume if you apply negative pressure it should suck in the cooler air.. do you already have negative pressure?

The temp in the bedroom is usually right around 70-72. On the negative pressure, my tent sucks in so if that's what you mean then yes. Its early and I get confused with all the negative pressure and passive intake. Basically, you have to have negative pressure to have passive air intake right?

You have a tent in a closet ? Then that could be the problem because the passive air intake is probably not strong enough to pull air into the closet as well

I think you will be fine with those temps, that's about what I run. Could be better, but hey my driveways not paved in gold either. Yes you're right on the flushing method. Although I never really run that much water through my pots because it just seems like a waste of good water that I have to filter anyway. When I'm flushing, I basically just flush until the runoff water is clear, or clearish. That's the purpose of my flush right? To clear the medium, so I figure that's the best way for me to decide how I flush.

You're on the right track to passive air intakes but basically instead of worrying about how to become a rocket scientist and calculating your pressure, just take a single 2 ply piece of toilet paper and place it over your passive air intake, if it holds itself there just enough to where it doesnt fall, you're doing good/your intake and exhaust are working near perfectly. If it falls off, your intake sucks/it's too big/you need a bigger fan. If it gets sucked in, your intake isn't big enough/your fan is too powerful for your intake size. A toilet paper piece might not be large enough if your passive intake is huge, but you get the concept. Apply however necessary.

Its cool, I'm are work too. Currently I just leave a 4 inch hole open in the tent for intake, sometimes I've been unzipping the bottom part of the tent to let more air in.

That sounds like a good idea. I will try that when I get home. You know I spent so much time figuring out if I needed a carbon filter fan for exhaust I kinda missed intake. The intake hole that my tent has isat theback of the tent, which is almost right up against the wall. The only other intake holes I have are up higher on the tent and I thought cool air should come into the bottom. Thanks for all the input. I know with you guys help I will be a great grower in time...

Yes cooler sure should be drawn through the bottom. Should have made the intake closer to the closet entrance

I haven't really made an intake for the closet. I've just been leaving the door open

No. There is no way for that to happen due to the size of the closet. I guess that's probably not cutting it for passive intake. What about opening the bottom of the tent a little?

hey guys im a new grower and i have two auto fem sweet seed fast buds that are about 20 days old i have them set up under two 75 watt florescent tubes and i put another 23 watt tube with the others to give it aditional light i keep them on a 24 hour light period the temp stays at a nice 75 and i have a ph tester and it stays at a nice 7.0 i use fox farm fertalizer the grow big formula any comments or concerns are gladly excepted i really want to hear if anyone has a good idea on how to make my plants better View attachment 1619502View attachment 1619504

Why didn't you make the entire closet the actual grow room... can you not close your old intake and make a new one

Closet space is already a little tight as it is so I need the other half of the closet. It appears I'm in a no win situation

Well if you can't move anything and you dont want to keep the door open and can't move the intake. Cut a hole in the wall run some kind of hose or ducting and cover it with a plug plate to make it look like a plug.. Or dont do anything..
