1st Grow Ever - Chemdog / Soil - 3x3x6 Grow Tent

Hey everyone, ive been doing alot of poking around for tips and advice, and let me say there is tons to read here!

So to start, the wife and I have been smoking more than a fair share of our favorite herb and after talking it through, I got the ok to pick up some seed and supplies!

I didnt know where to start for a strain, so i just checked out popular choices for strains on AttitudeSeedBank, and in the end we chose a 60/40 Indica with strong narcotic effects.
After researching some more i discovered Chemdog is up there with most medicinal strains. Sweeeeet!

Anyway, i ordered up all my supplies while i germed my seeds. I started 1 on its own, and 3 beans later on, after a horrible Hydro ponics attempt, Soil is the way its gonna be.

I picked up my lighting from an electrical wholesaler, wired it up and made my own cooltube out of a glass vase... Yes, it worked!
My 3x3x6 tent arrived shortly after my beans popped thru the soil, altho Chem 1, is way ahead after being germed 1 week earlier and was waiting on my tent, Seedlings are in my homemade PC Grow box for propogation
Soil used is Sunshines Organic/Compost mix, and im also using cattle manure and im getting water from our rain barrel.

This is my first grow, any tips or hints will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking!

Right now, I've got a 250watt HPS inside the tube, with a pc fan taped onto a 4x4 square/4" tubing flange,then slid my vase inside then a 90* into the exhaust port. suprisingly enough that pc fan draws quite a big of air thru the extra port holes. I Would take a picture of the entire setup, but from smaller pics of the plants i can hardly take a clear photo. Something with the light spectrum and my camera lense, or who knows but i cant get rid of those black lines. Temps are staying at 74-77, and the humidity is around 40-50%. Soil right now is moist.

Anyway for the time being here are some pics of the guys out of the tent. Ive noticed a few things already with the brats and i hope to theres a good simple treatment for them. Also, one of seedlings got to hot in the bag, and the leaves deteriorated, curled down and died luckly there was some new grow on the way, but will they grow now? And if anyone can help, on the bigger plant, the bottom leaves are becoming brighter green, neon almost.. Did i mess something up ?

could just be the nutes in the soil is too much for ur babies orr check this table out..helps me alot, your baby will come back just give it a week it cud be just stunted from the heat.

Can you say favorites? Wicked chart, so simple. I did actually use more Sunshine in the mix, for the younger guys, close to 75/25. Lucky for me i ordered more seeds a while back, got a small stash of Banana Kush and AK47. Just in case i have to start again.

favorite nutes? i mean u can get everything u need with the foxfarm trio. and i'd get some calmag. thts what im getting for my master kush im growing next..i just used basic miracle grow patio (7-8-6) for veg, this guy subcool whos a legend said its the best store bought fert. and i got some 10-10-10 rapidgro for flower from homedepot. just shit i found in town...hydro store just opened up this year in my area.

ya and i wudnt nute ur babies until week 2-3 or at least when there as big as ur biggest one. u shud flush them with plain water twice good and wait 2 more weeks on nutes. soil usually has enough shit in it to start. obviously u can nute tht big one though. only give it 25% of recommended dose to start

Here are a couple pics, I fed the big guy on the 1st, and later that day i had to rush to the hospital with the wife, she gave birth to our 2nd son, Rowan. What a day! And then i spent most of following day at the hospital preparing for our return home.
to my suprise, i didnt kill my plant by over feeding! I did screw up on my ratio though, instead of using a gallon of water, i only used a liter :/ Im pretty lucky, No burning or anything, there was already a small yellow spot in the center of a lower leaf prior to feeding. Nothing else is affected on the plant. And the little guy is trying to catch up, few more leaves have sprung up. The third one not in pics, is dark green, leaves look a bit burntm but its pushing along just fine

So this morning i got up and went to check on the kids and here is what i see! Chem 1 is looking pretty healthy still, top leaves are looking a bit darker in color now, but the leaves are also looking droopy, or at least in my eyes they appear a bit droopy. ALso today they got watered, almost 4 days without however i added more food solution, instead of plain water for Chem 1, The lower leaves on him were already slightly light green and yellow but now i noticed they are more yellow. Was i supposed to finish the month from the first Nute Feeding, with Water only? or should i just continue nutes until the 25%> solution is gone? Just affraid of salt build ups etc.
Anyway! So #2 is doing pretty well also. Chem 3 isnt in the pics again , after leaving him under light with a bag over the pot, the grow is coming in faster, but the growth is a bit twisted or curled. Looks abnormal to me, ill get pics up asap. 3

Yup, just a 250w with some feminized Chemdog. My setup is very McGiver, or redneck if you wanna be a dick about it lol Ill get a few pics of my setup tonight, before and after i install the carbon filter and fan that just arrived from Ontario. Ebay Rocks!! I really need some yoyo's or chains.

And Dutch, I may have been under the influence while I posted during my last visit to the forums... infact im positive I smoked hehehe my bad, I was wondering if I was supposed to water without nutes, once the soil was dry enough to water again after feeding for the 1st time. But i think I got my answer, the first pair of leaves to sprout are now shriveling up and will probably die shortly. But the rest of the plant is now really dark green and one of the large bottom leaves is starting to turn yellow i think, really light green/yellow... Should flush her out with water for a few minutes or wait a day or two?

Hey guys, back with photos and an update. Chem 1 is doing pretty good aside from possible being root bound, but her leaves are turning a bit yellow on the bottom. I just transplanted 1 & 2, and started training 1 (im using 18gauge copper wire). Also, ive ordered up a Digital PH meter for soil. So ill know for sure what my soil PH stands at before watering. Any tips on the yellowing would be great!

Hey folks! Its been a long time since ive got to log in and post anything, Moved the family and we're finally about unpacked and cleaned up, luckily i have lots of pot to get me through the move lol

Right now my plants arent lookin to bad at all, considering i slightly over fed on the last feeding, but the stress was almost unseen hardly any yellowin of the tips. They arent the dark indica green like they should be. Over half way of the flowering stage now, I know its been so long since ive uploaded any pics so when i find my phone, ill load some up. Keep in mind, im only using a 250 watt system

Hey everyone! Been a while, i know i know Ive been getting lazy and my journal has suffered, lots has been going on in my life with a new job and vehicle, the baby boy growin up and all! Its not easy growin up... glad i have my pot! In Fact, i just harvested one of my girls, #2 in fact! She had a rather standard veg time, and finished first, with the smaller colas also. #1 vegged the longest, and #3 who i though may not catch up in time, is now taller than Chem 1 and the main cola is also larger than Chem 1. Ill snap some pics of the final budding stage of them, i kinda got ahead of myself this morning and forgot to take pictures before the lights went out. Anyway! Better late than never! Ill have more tonight!

the camera lines are from the HPS. The electronic ballast causes it.

So after another few months of absence, and smoking all the pot i grew, Ill be posting some final grow pics. In the end, It was some amazing tasting bud, especially off #2 which was Vegged for only about 2 weeks before triggering. I managed to produce 6oz from 3 plants on my first attempt at growing.
My first taste test was awesome, it had some a sweet and very flavourful taste. It was also some uber frosty bud, I was shocked to see the quality from growing off 250Watts. Pics up after work!

Also, for anyone wondering about Green House Big Bag Autoflowers, I would recommend it! After my chemdog grow, i popped 5 seeds, 1 root was damaged and failed after planting, another died mysteriously. and another died again. I was left with 2 strong plants, first one gave 3/4oz, and im cropping the last right now, will have #'s for production. On a good note, despite loosing 3 babies, the first plant to be chopped gave me 3 more auto seeds, I cant wait! Only problem is i got a sexy LSD vegging in the tent now!
