1st grow

Hey everyone. It's my first time, just experimenting. Im only using compost from local shop and have it at the window in October.

It's 9 days old, how would use say it looks?

Was thinking of burying the stem up to just below the cotyledon leaves?

You can do that, but straight compost isn't very good as a potting mix, especially not as a seed starter mix. Too many nutrients and not enough air.

When you transplant get some good airy potting mix with plenty of perlite.

Thanks, I'm going out in the morning to see what I can find, if not I'll order. This is just a little test. Il be getting all the proper equipment in a month or 2 and start doing it proper.

Just started studying horticulture in college, so I'm going to try take what I learn from that

Hell yea. I'm planning to go back to school for it. Seems practical considering the amount of research I've already put into it.

Good luck!

Thanks and good luck too yourself too.

Would you be able to recommend a grow setup for just 2 plants. Their is a lot of information and different opinions on what's best, it gets confusing

This could go so many different ways depending on your budget and goals. A grow tent is a great way to start. Check out this website...they not only walk you through how to grow, but they help you plan out your grow environment. That can get you started so that you can zero in on the type of lighting, size, etc.

It all really depends on your budget and grow space. If it's in any are with decent climate control you can get by with a cheaper hid hood for your lights, but if you don't have a way of keeping the space cool and dry you may want to look into led grow lights. You may be sacrificing a little yield with leds, but they operate at a way lower temp.

Tents are good for areas with good cooling, but they trap a lot of heat in. If you can afford a portable ac unit then a tent is a really good route. But for the 100-200 you'll spend on the tent you could buy a decent amount of lumber to build a grow box and just paint the inside white.

No matter what you'll need some ventilation. An inline fan and some ducting will do the trick. And a regular fan to circulate the air in the tent/box.

If smell is an issue you'll need a carbon filter to scrub the air your venting.

I get everything from eBay. Always seems to be just a bit cheaper, and usually there's an option with free shipping.

There is a 2 plant (expandable) self watering set up out there, cant remem. the name just now. It is green in color. always looked good to me as to container size quality etc. For a 2 plant grow I would pick lights that need only a fan to outside of the tent. Unless you grow the rankest skunk going, simple room deodorizers have always worked, up to 4 plants, for me.

Yeah, that's where I've been looking for my equipment. Apart from soil and seeds I was looking elsewhere for that. Was thinking of coco pro +. Not decided on seeds yet. The one that's planted is a green Crack bag seed. So not the best until I have all equipment.

One system is the Auto pot system. comes with 4 and 6 gal. pots. not real expensive.

Want kind of seed? If it just a regular seed I would just keep doing what your doing until it gets about 8-12in then transfer to bigger pot (bury the stem then).

Yeah it's just a green Crack bag seed.
Once I get everything I need for a proper grow is when I will buy seeds and start taking it more serious.
I had already buried the stem this morning. This is the plant now.
I0 day old today

If the seed was a lone seed in a bag, be alert, they are often hermie seeds.
