1st indoor grow

So as the title states this will be my first indoor grow, I have had 2 rather successful outdoor seasons but now am dipping into indoor.

Where I live it's about to hit the colder months so because of this I will be using grow tents in a shed to hopefully help with heat.

Currently I have 2x 1.5m x 1.5m x 2m tents, I plan to eventually have 1 running for flower and 1 for veg.

I will start the seedlings under a t5 light for the first 2-3 weeks then plan to veg under a 600w my until flip, once in flower would I be ok to do the first half say under a 600w and finish under 2 600w hps? I will be running cooltubes with 1 decent fan solely for heat extraction for them. I will have another fan setup with a CF and for air extraction.

My main question is will the 2 600w hps be too much for that space? Bearing in mind the outside temps will probably be around 15c - 20c.

I will also be growing in coco using dtw. I plan on using 5gal air pots but will start in rockwool cubes and then transplant to 1-2gal pots before they are in the 5gals.

Looking at using house and garden nutes along with cal-mag. I'm hoping to not use all the extra add ones so sticking with base nutes at this stage.

Will 4 plants under a 4x4 scrog be ok? Don't want too many I'm having issues getting to them all but also don't want to be in veg for 4 months filling the screen haha.

Cheers everyone!

Hey Welcome to RIU

Im still new to all of this myself, but ive spent alot of time researching the very same questions your asking. So ill answer what i think i know, ill leave anything else to the smarter growers lol

2 x 600w hps in a 4x4 is gonna be pushing the limits for light and heat i think unless you have a cooling solution. Im sure its been done before, just not sure how much cooling was needed. you may need AC to keep temps under control. Hopefully someone smarter has a better answer for you lol

I dont think you need to use 5g pots if growing in coco, many growers on this site are using 2g/3g pots for coco.
4 plants will be fine under 4x4 scrog, ive grown 4 and filled my 4x4 tent nicely. Some growers are growing only 1-3 and just vegging longer until screen is full. 4 would allow for shortest veg time obv. Its def a bit of a nuisance accessing the back plants in a 4x4, but not that bad.

Hope this helps, and hopefully some better growers will pop in and offer some advice.

Hi Ozzie !!! I think 2 600 watts will be over kill in a 4x4 tent imo.
I’m currently scrogging 4 plants in a 4x4 and I think things will get over crowded unless kept under control. If you want to maximize your yield and get full potential from your ladies expand your area to a 4x8 tent With 2 600 watts !!!

Happy 420 everyone

Thanks for the input! I'm happy to stick with the 1 600w for this grow and then I will upgrade.
I think I will go with the 3g pots too after looking at a few journals with people using them. 5gal might become hard with the limited height
