1st journal week 1(pics)

here is my 3rd attept at growing started with 7 seeds 6 sprouter here is week 1...reggo seeds 2 strains left and right 3 each and 2-42w cfl 1-26w cfl 1-15w cfl and 20w-24"tube ge sunshine in barrel

think the 1 growing fastest is male or is it cuz of the container...only 1 in a different 1....heres is the barrel few days ago post updated 1 soon

so is the biggest 1 most likely a male?any experienced growers know if thats the case most of the time?..just seems odd to me that the last seed to germinate and go in the dirt would be the biggest and fastest growing or could it have anything to do with the plastic vs styrofoam?

Very cool grow space you have there! You are going to want to move the very top cfl down because I think they prolly are doing little to nothing that far away.

Yeh you want to have the cfls about 1-2" away from the tops to get optimal grow rate. Otherwise they will stretch for the light and be tall and lanky.

i want to move them closer but i need sum more exaust fans or intake i dunno really before i do because of heat issues the 2-42w cfls are 3"-4" away the other 2 im just using for like backup at the moment...im hoping to just keep 2 plants if i can get a female from each strain keep them short or devise a cool way to bend them as to maximize usage of my space

been about 10 days or so since last pic here is an updated 1...going to try n get them in sum bigger containers this week

recently transplanted and lost the cripled looking 1...kinda on purpose it looked pitiful ...hoping the rest pull thru but heres how its looking....

well heres how they are looking now....im starting them on 12/12 tonite after 3 weeks of veg even though they r tiny but id rather that then run out of room and i want to find out if any r female b4 roots get tangled...may reveg after sexing i dunno yet but prolly not unless i only get 1 female

Pretty cool barrel grow .. nifty, what are you doing exactly for ventilation and air flow? looks like one of your plants leaves are starting to turn yellow, how often are you watering and do you have proper drainage/holes in containers? You mentioned losing a plant already, do you have a clue as to why?

No, more than likey it's the strain, there is really no way of telling sex until preflower well into veg or usually within a week of flowering.

BTW What happened to your last two attemps?

i lost it during transplant...didnt survive....i have 2 cpu fans in there 1 intake near bottom and 1 exaust up top temp stays mid to upper 80s...leaves were looking real bad cuz of transplant shock i think looking A LOT better now....i dont have a watering schedule i just water as needed usually every 2-3days and yea i have a lot of holes in the bottom 4 drainage...i started 12/12 already 2 days ago cuz im limited on height to like 18"...i just plan on keeping 2 females if i get em....the 1 that is growing fast is same strain as 2 other plants and the other 2 are of a dif bagseed strain...i gave em a low dose of nutes when i transplanted thats what caused the leaves 2 burn slightly and havent given any nutes since and really dont plan to unless i have to....my 1st grow was 1 plant and it was male and my 2nd grow was a hermie but i went all the way thru flower but bud was xtra seedy but not too bad of smoke

cool setup. one thing is that you only want one plant per pot. so when you transplant next get them all there own 3 gallon pots. i know space is limited but once they get big they are going to compete too much. you might have to pick your strongest or wait till flower and see which ones are males.

by the time i go into flower im hoping to have only 2 strong females.....will the 6qt(1-1/2 gallon) be big enough if plants stay under 18"?(1 plant per pot?)

well am now down to 4 plants....the big 1 was a male...it was the only 1 to show sex so far...here are the others...been on 12/12 for like a week now

Sorry about the boy, lets hope the rest are girls, they are looking good, nice and healthy, I recently started flowering, 4 days ago, I'm soo excited.

well all the rest turned out to be male too!! i was like wtf?...lol.....but now here is what i got in the barrel.....

i didnt end up with 1 girl....this is totaly new from seed plant and i have another in another room that is a seed from a hermie plant i had last year that appears to be all female but i put it back in veg to beef it up some....here is a good bud shot its like 3 weeks or so into 12/12
