1st Post, 1st grow. Does my plant look Normal? Cfl, Dwc, Advice?

I have a DWC with 1/4 nutes (Floraduo/Full Bonticare additives) and 2 6500k cfls on her. They are about 2 inches about with a fan blowing across the top. My ? is, does she look normal with the fingers and twisted leaves? it was just bag seed :/ ph stays between 5.7 and 5.9. Roots are white and growing everyday.photo.jpg

Excessive nitrogen levels can get the leaves twisting. Most importantly, especially with DWC, is the quality of the water used. Reverse Osmosis water, supplemented with Cal Mag to 250-400ppm is hightly recommended. Also, I would not use any beneficial bacteria in a highly oxygen enriched enviroment like DWC, prolific bacteria growth will occur and become too much.

Thank you for such quick responses, i did check out a few stickys in "plant problems" but nothing quite matched up so i figured i was being over cautious and id ask. I do use RO water and cal mag but do not have a ppm meter yet :/ i know its not right but i figured if i stick to the feed schedule it shouldn't get to high until i can buy one. I have 2 air pumps running in my 5gal res so there is tons of oxygen, would aqua shield from bonticare fall under the category of "beneficial bacteria" and should i cut it out? I thought it was to early for nutes but i got excited lol when the roots looked healthy along with the leaves i figured it wasn't a problem. if i have a fan blowing across the cfls, i can pretty much get them as close as i want huh?

just went through your link, i hope my plants turn out something like that. without proper lighting i cant expect that much but i can dream haha

They're looking slightly deformed to me
From too many ppms did yo give any nutes the first week?
No nutes the first week and 200 ppm the second week~
How many ppms is yo 1/4 strength nutes?

I completely disagree. You have an obvious acidic ph fluctuation that requires immediate attention. You need to check your meter; check the batteries and calibrate it before each use; this is imperitive. The leaves will correct themselves to an extent, but these may need to be removed later.

i checked and re calibrated my ph meter, it was 5.8 as before. I have never had a ph problem i dont think. it could be the ppm of the nutes, i have not bought a ppm meter yet and im sure there is to many nutes to early.

You are over anaylsing imo , let the little thing grow out a bit then adjust this and that.

i went and bought a ppm meter and i believe it was to high at 700, do you all concur this is over nuting to early? i believe i have learned my lessonphoto 2.jpgphoto.jpg

thank you for the response, ive brought it down to about 200 since ive read this. She still shows signs of burning which makes sense because its been so high. is there a rule of thumb about ppms? like for seedlings, clones veg and flower? ive done a little research but everyone shows different numbers. i didnt have a ppm meter when i first started this plant and thats why my ppms got out of control. im hoping with one i wont have problems anymore.

Im new to this site so appologies if I have posted this in the wrong section.

I have recently planted two strains from seed (strawberry diesel and gh's jack herer) which are currently in there 2nd week of the veg stage. The first grow medium was rockwell cubes which were soaked in ph'd water of 5.8 and have recently been transported to pots of clay pebbles. The seedlings are recieving 24 light under blue spec cfl's (which i think maybe the problem) and the heat of the garden is a consistent 80-81. The seedlings are getting hand fed (for now) once per day with a strict ph of 5.8-5.9 without any nutes. The first problem was that the tips started to turn yellow, but now they have all brown burnt tips. Im sure it isnt a nute problem as they are only getting fed water (tap) at the ph of 5.8-5.9. Can anyone tell me what the problem is please??

AquaShield from Botanicare IS a bacillus or bacteria additive! I would proceed with caution if using in DWC. I, personally, wouldn't use any bacteria or beneficial in DWC for that matter. Matter of fact, I probably would use H2O2 as a preventitive.
