I started a AG grow in January, but it went bad quick cause of overnute, but I started another at the end of Jan/Feb.
Started some bag seed in a cup o water and they cracked on Feb 1st. Planted them into the AG on the 2nd of Feb. I'm on the end of 5th week from seed crack. I put them into flower last Tuesday (03/02/09). I've been running Humidity an avg. of 50%. PH is is spot on. Check it everyday. Vegged with stock AG hood and 4 100w CFL for the first 2 weeks, then added 6 more 100w 65K cfls. Then adding a Illuminator UFO (blue/red/orange spectrum) last week of veg. Changed out 10 cfls and put in 9 1600K cfls and 1 2600k 125w cfl with UFO (I Know LEDs don't work, but I leave for several days and am not comfortable with HID heat, hopfully energy use will be low too) Been using stock Nutes for 4 weeks, then went to Foxfarms nutes this past week. Don't know if they are fem or dude yet.

I dubbed mine the 'science experiment' or 'horticulture project'

what are the specs on that ufo light? is it a first gen or a second gen?

It's the second gen. 90 watts, supposed to create the most useable light spectrum for photosythesis to occur in plants from a led. It's red/blue and orange spectrum. They added orange to the 2nd gen. I have had it running for the last 2 weeks. I don't know if the led has helped since I've never done this before, but they seem to be growing out as well as up and fast. I'll hope for the best.

edit: Nevermind, you do have a 2nd gen, 3rd gen is 50w with white

So you have CFLs and the LED?

I would just try the LED alone and see how it does by itself. If it looks like you need more light throw more on it.

LED is definitely the way of the future in technological advancement, but we are still perfecting them, getting the right frequencies of the lights, increasing wattage etc.

I'm really interested to see how this works out.

I've been really curious about LED lights

Yeah, I'm keeping the cfls in the mix. I already bought them and I figure more light the better. At this point I need side lighting too, so I'll keep them, may try a totally led grow later on. The plants are looking healthy and growing up and out fast, so I don't want to change the recipe.

I'm leaving my house for 48 hours. So far the rez seems to be drinking about 50oz a day. So a rough estimate would suggest that my rez will be as low as only 28 oz of water. Will this cause problems? Anyone run their rez seriously low before?

thanks yall.

It should be fine, as long as its not ridiculously low, the plants can survive, i would just time it right, so before you leave, you just top the rez with as much water as it can take,

So this morning I looked at my grow and the top part was into the light! It grew like 2" overnight! That's the first 2 pics. The rest are when I re-did it tonight. Does growing 2" overnight that sound right? It's drinking water like crazy. It got too tall for the platform I had in my closet, so tonight I put the Aero base on the floor. Re-did the lights, what a bitch! This now gives me much more room. But I think the plant is trying to grow too wide. Should I prune? Shouldn't this fucker start showing it's sexy by now? I started veg last Tuesday 03/03/09. It's almost 2 weeks.
I tied it too, it was leaning a bit when I changed it's rez water tonight.

Duct tape. You've got to love that stuff. Best invention ever, next to the printing press.

Quick question, is the led light just a secondary light used strictly for the light spectrum? Interested to see how this turns out.

I'm using the LED for the flowering, though the web-site I got it from says that you can use it for all stages. I just got it about 2 weeks ago and started using it last week. I'm basically trying to put as much light in the closet as possible. I need mylar, but with all my sweet duck tape, I can't really hang it in the width it comes in, I'd have to cut it up, which may be worse. Yeah, the duck tape is awesome. It lets me do quick angle adjustments as the plant grows.

led light produce much heat?
No heat at all. If you look at some of the past posted pics in this thread. There is a pic of when the plant grew into the led over night. I thought I had plenty of room.
When I looked in the morning it was touching the led light surface and was cool to the touch.

thanks, they do look healthy, but I looked at some pics of flowering plants today, and I'm afraid that the tallest one is a dude. Can't tell about the other two. I should know more by tonight when the lights come on or at least in the morning. That sucks, I hate to chop it down. Can you throw them in a pot and put em' outside for seeds?
