Day 1- Germinate

Day 2- Germinate

Day 3-
7:38 p.m.
November 27, 2007

My Baby Bloomer has just been waiting to be put to use. It has a tray that holds 10 2 gallon pots with a 5 gallon resevoir, pump and drain and tubing. Rockwool plugs, and grow rocks. All together about $169.99.

I poured 7.0 PH water, warmed it slightly first, into the Baby Bloomer.

I have put the newly hatched seeds into the rock wool plugs.

24 hour light cycle, 400 watt MH. Lights are 8 inches from tops of plants
Added full str. nutes
(4) 30 minute feeding cycles

Day 4-
6:39pm
November 28, 2007

All 8 bag seeds have been starting to grow. Fan is blowing directly on them for strong stem growth.

We will see if the additives hurt or help. I think the Hydro was a really good idea and hope it will help

No PPM meter, no thermometer, pH is level is off by at least .5

Day 5-
12:44pm
November 29, 2007

Plants are skinny, but look ok.

One plants stem looks burnt or damaged? It has brown speckles.

Day 6-
9:24 pm
November 30, 2007

Rockwool looks really wet all the time. I have lowered the irrigation cycle to 3 times a day at 30 minute intervals.

Plants are flimsy and falling over, I had to support the stems with rockwool plug tear offs.

Day 7-
December 1, 2007
9:56pm

The plants that were directly under the MH light seem to grow a tad faster then the ones on the outside.

I gave the plants fresh air today and drained/cleaned the resevoir, as well as the tray.

New 7.0 pH water with full str nutes have been added to the 5 gallon resevoir.

Baby Bloomer works great thus far, pump timer works great.

Day 8-
December 2, 2007
7:22pm

The plants still seem to be a bit over watered, I am paranoid about killing them =( then again I don't want to under water.

I did hear somewhere saying that you want your roots to be strong, so you want the roots to reach for that water, instead of it being there all the time.

I lowered the irrigation cycle to twice a day at 30 minute intervals each time.

Day 9-
December 3, 2007
8:03pm

I am still trying to analyze my plants to make sure I know how many times they should be fed a day.

The rockwool cubes still look really wet so I am lowering the irrigation cycle to once a day at one 30 minute interval.

I hope they don't die.

Day 10-
December 4, 2007
1:26pm

The rockwool plug is extremely dry and white/dusty. I think one irrigation cycle was not enough.

Three plants have fallen over, and it looks like they are dying for thirst.

I fix and support the plants and immediately provide water to the plugs.

They are saved...for now

I have adjusted the irrigation cycle back to 2 times per day at 30 minute intervals each time.

Day 11-
December 05, 2007
1:12pm

Plants look ok and recovering from being thirsty. That MH bulb gets really hot. Temp is at approx. 78 degrees, no humidity gauge.

Today I ordered BC pH Down formula, a PPM reader, and an odor killer. My pH sits at 7.0 and I hear you want 5.5-6.5 when growing hydroponically.

____________

Any advice?

What should the PPM be at throughout these stages? That way I know for my next grow.

Also, with this ebb and flow system of mine. How many times should I run an irrigation cycle? and during each cycle, for how long?

When should I add nutes to the water? I hear you should start off the first week or two with just water, then add 1/4 str. nutes, and then the following week 1/2 str, then 3/4 str. then full str. Is this true? Is this part of what ppm means? measuring the solution in the water?

Day 26

Lights 20 inches away, 400 watt MH, 24/0
