1st time grow 230 watt cfl

These are my 1st attempt at growing. The big ones are 2 weeks old currently in pro mix with a little extra perilite watering every other day or every 3 small amount of fox farms grow big on the 2 largest about a 1/3 teaspoon per gal of water. The small seedlings are about 5 days old no nutes yet just water.

Inside dimensions of box is 18" wide 23" deep and 24 inches tall inside.

8 23 watt 2700k 2 23 watt 6700k homemade PVC light rack with homemade reflector hood inside of is painted flat white. 4" inline fan pulling in cold air from outside and a 4" inline fan pulling air out. Constant 76-79 degrees during lights on an 69 always the low at night. About 50% humidity.

Bag seed is what the 2 largest and 2 of the seedlings are and one of the seedlings is a fem seed from a local grower I know. Not sure what strain though

Hoping to run 2 or 3 small females in the 1 gallon pots there in.

When I switch to flowering I might add a little more light but I don't know. Will be feeding with fox farms big bloom and tiger bloom.

Wanting to switch to 12/12 in a week or 2 so they won't get to big. Hoping they show sex when I do so I can eliminate some clutter in there if there's some males 5 plants going now hoping for 2 females? Is that a big wish

Please let me know what you think I typed this on my phone sorry if it doesn't make sense or there's some spelling errors!!

As for the first grow, man you did your homework, gratz. About wattering, I think you do. but it depends on how you water. At least I find my soil moist for 5-7 days when plants are this big. just from what I see I think there might not be enough space for more than 2 of those plants depends on when are you planning to switch to flower...

LOL, you're gonna be crowded in there man.
I finished one plant in a 24"x20"x4' tall area, and it was full, now I'm fighting trying to keep my current two vegging in that space.
Suggestion, throw a book or something under your cups to raise them up to be close like your bigger pots.
It kinda looks like it's too warm in there, but your watering sounds too frequent also.
Do you feel the weight of the pot/ cup before you water?
The plants will change how much they drink as they grow.

Thanks simisimis I spent a lot of idle time while smoking reading through here finally got my box up and running a few weeks ago but I had to show you guys and see what you thought.

OK so I didn't water yesterday and I'm not going to today until there super dry maybe tomorrow or sat I will...

I know its ganna be really crowded in there but with them being bag seed I'm sure I'll have some males... But I'm ganna try to grow any females I have to harvest in there

In 2 months I'm buying a 36"x20"64" tent and 400 watt hps with digital dimmable ballast and a 6" exhaust fan with filter and my 2 4" fans doing the intake. My cfl box works great ganna use it for clones and mothers and use the tent for flowering.

Temps stay below 80 degrees normally 75 to 77 running them on 18/6 so I don't think there heat stressed but more over watered than anything.

I can't wait to get my tent then I'll move any females over to the tent to finish!

well in that case seems like you have everything sorted out. nice. yeah, don't freak out about watering, that's the most common mistake, plants will drink more when their root ball increases and stem supports bigger uptake, too wet soil will cause poor root development, thus poor stem, thus poor uptake, thus poor yield.. you don't want poor yield do ya? :D not talking about root rot, mold risk etc. but you can not let the soil get dry as well, when you fill pot with water you notice how heavy it becomes, when plant uses all the water, pot becomes way lighter.. also you can stick your finger or check when plant leaves shows some signs of wilt, after you add water, they get back to normal within an hour or two..
how long for the sex to show up? well it depends when you flip, if you let the plant fully mature, it can show you first pistils in 4 days, if you start 12/12 from seed it will take weeks... but if you do like 4-6weeks in veg and then make a flip you should see pistils roughly after 4-10 days..

Well bad news, after all the researching and reading you somehow chose crappy CFL as your lights. Half ass setup = half ass product.

Only thing those pictures tell me, wow those would be great if the grower hadnt half-assed them with CFL. I can only imagine how bad ass they would be if used proper grow equipment. Hell, if that grower had invested in a real equipment, it might even rival my grows.

it still makes me wonder how people without even asking about various factors just drop a line saying that there is way better lights out there. thanks mr. obvious however every grow room, latitude or coast they live in, possibility to control heat, wallet size etc etc is different.
of course you might not yield as much as you could, but with proper care you can grow satisfiable amount.

I'm quite satisfied with CFLs performance for my 1st grow... box maybe cost 185 to 200 bux and is working quite well.

For my 1st small grow they were the best choice.

However I am already planning on getting a 400 watt hps and a tent for my next one... I will be using the cfl box for veg and clones and switch them to the tent for flowering.

Mainly just shooting for enough for myself.

I watered then today and they loved it.. they were getting close to lights so I moved them up and they seem to have perked up a lot!

Those look half ass delicious :)

Could you get more with HPS, yeah, does that mean you wont be able to enjoy the hell out of your CFL bud :)

looks like u need do some research there bud....with enough CFL that crappy CFL u think is all there good 4 can turn out to be pretty good....give the man some credit dick bag....maybe he on a buget...not everyone is still living with there mommy still suckin them saggy titties...jesus these the fucktards u gotta watch out for eastcoastenthusiast....nice work man keep it upbongsmilie

Thanks seeing that plant on cfl makes me want to stick with it but I know I'll wanna upgrade soon so I'm just ganna go 400 watt hps n a tent...

Really just want to supply myself with bud...

I watered today with plain water and raised the lights up about a inch. They all perked up and started reaching upwards in an hr or so.

Thinking I had them too close to the lights in plus the over watering didn't help

The stems are about as big as my pinky already on the big ones so I think this setup is doing great for what it is not to mention me who's just trying this for the 1st time
