What’s up all. I’m new to growing and am looking for advice and help through my journey. I have a 3x3 tent set up in my room with some plants I germinated in some solo cups. I’m running a 1000w marshydro in it with window fan and a small desk fan for air circulation. My humidity has been getting higher, in the 75%-80% range. I read it’s not an issue because they’re small and have only been in the room 3 weeks. But that made me think if I start having humidity issues in my bigger tent what do I do? I just got a 5x5 tent set up thats 6’11” in height. I got a 6” Phresh filter and hurricane fan, with a 1000w kind led in there already. I’m going to put 2-3small fans in there with a co2 regulator and tank on a wall timer.

My question is right now what’s the best dehumidifier I can get to put in my 5x5? The reviews I’ve read on amazon are so misleading I feel, because the reviews on the grow sites I’ve been able to find aren’t that much in detail. And what else do you think my tent might need and I’m growing in my garage by the way.

Another thing that was brought to my attention is that I have 5 different strains growing and 1 is auto. A friend told me I should’ve just stuck with 1 since I’m new to this and each strain likes different things such as humidity, light cycles and nutrient. How true is that and how big trouble am I in? Also I went with soil since I’ve dropped a lot of $$$$$$ So far and it doesn’t look like I’m stopping soon.

Another question I have is the type of soil I’m using. I just went crazy and bought happy frog, ocean farm, light warrior, earth room castings, cococoir and purple cow indicanja. I planned on mixing it all up, but was advised against that. The guy at the garden shop said the purple cow has everything in it and I won’t need nutrients. How true is that and what’s something I can do to see if the soil needs added nutrients.
so please all criticism is accepted let me know if I’m a damn idiot or I’m on the right track? Thanks and happy growing. F32204F7-00F6-4FB9-B6C1-57B23EDD3917.jpeg4D15C671-5CEA-44A6-9D07-D7F6D43D2307.jpeg

Hey how are ya? Well I'd say, relax a bit. These plants are robust, and can handle "some" abuse, but not forever. As far as the difference in strains, yes some like different temps, different humidity levels. The tent will retain the moisture without something to exchange said air as plants breath and soil dries, 70-80% RH is high. You definitely dont want to flower with it that high. I know your a ways from that point, but get it down before then. High RH makes the leaves stop "breathing" and can cause bud rot. I see you have an inline and filter for I'm guessing the flower tent? Good. That will help with the humidity in flower. Your veg tent needs something to pull air out, which will lower humidity, but it shouldnt hurt young plants. As far as soil, I know ima get flamed for this but I'm growing in good ol miracle gro potting soil, and for the first month aprox I add no nutes since the soil already has some. What your using i have no exp as far as soil goes. Maybe someone can advise on that. Depending on the rooms size, the type of air conditioning you have, and whether both tents are in the same room will justify or not the need for a dehumidifier, I dont own one and dont need it. My central air pulls plenty of humidity out of the air. Hell I dont even have a air circulator in my tent at all. Ocean, and hpy frog I've heard are excellent and I'm not sure if they have nutes. As far as nutes, your plant will tell you if it needs some. Do a web search for grow bible. I love growing marijuana has one and a plant care guide that's pretty good. I'm a cheap ass so the only thing I sprung for is 4x4 tent inline fan, carbon filter, air cooled hood w a 600w hps bulb and digi ballast, timer, and a 1000w kingsled for veg.

Thanks. I know I don’t want my RH that high when I start to flower, really I don’t want it that high when my plants get a little bigger tbh. I’m just lost on what type of dehumidifier I should get? I’m thinking I might need an air cooler/humidifier too? Id rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. I want to get a humidifier/dehumidifier controller but I really don’t wanna pay $300 for one right now. I still got a bunch of stuff I got to get it. But thanks for your input I appreciate it

Hey bud no need to thank me! But your welcome! Once they get a bit bigger the humidity could become an issue. There are a few things I still need to get as well. The price tag is why I havent gotten one. But you are correct it's better to have something and not need it. My prob is mainly room temp where I have the tent. Its peaked as high as 90, I had to drop central air setting to bring it down. After that it was all good. One big key of advice I can offer, keep a damn close eye out for those tiny fungus gnats. I keep having a couple here and there in my flower tent, I squash every one I see even if I gotta sit with ol girl for an hour lmao! The larva will eat the roots. This ol girl here has several double colas on it.

In a 3x3 you can get away with $25-35 10 pint. I use one in a4x4. It needs to be adjustable, have read out auto off when full. Be sure to cover lights with tape during flower.

Don't expect much using that cheep light. Maybe 2~3 ounces at best but don't expect much more. Look into getting some better lights in the future. Check out HLG. I have 6 of their lights and never looked back.

I agree with the cheap lights. I grew some auto dwarfs with the kings all the way thru, max yield was a half ounce after dry and the buds were loose. I was disappointed in that. So I got a 600w hps/mh, air cooled hood w digi ballast combo. I use the kings for veg now. So far it does great with veg but I dont recommend for flower. After tossing this gal in there with the 600 she took off like a rocket during the stretch. Leafed like mofo too. I'm in there rn trimming leaves to expose budsites

Which light are you talking about? The mars or kind? Or both?

Ffof and happy frog are both good soils. Ffof is pretty hot from my experience, but nothing the plants can’t handle. I have all my plants in it right now, just using water as of now. It doesn’t really need extra nutrients until You get into flower.
When I transplant (next week or two here) I’m mixing Ffof/happy frog with 30% perlite and a good scoop of earthworm castings. My outdoor plants are getting diatomaceous earth sprinkled in as well.
So yes you can mix em. But be careful and do some research.
I don’t know about the purple cow stuff. Coco is inert so I’d mix some in with the soil if you insist on using it.
Look into hlg lights. I’m running a 550 soon in my 4x4 tent.
Hope this helps

Both.... Cheep lights like that you need 50 watts per square feet. That is ACTUAL watts and not what they claim. Lights like that can flower 3 square feet at best. You will need 4 to 6 of them for a decent grow.... plus an extra one or two to replace them when they burn out or catch on fire.

The kingsled only draws 190ish watts at the wall. I 2nd the 3sq ft area RockyGMSD said. Where I'm vegging at now I got 4 5 gal buckets under it and one is outside of the core lighting area and the drop in brightness is noticable. According to the info I could find AFTER i bought it, it's basically a 400w equivalent.(My 600w hps is WAAAY waaaay brighter.) Since It made my autos loose and low yield, I use it now with both switches on as a veg light. Much better results as of now under a 600w hps. The bison breath has more buds on it than I can count, some sites on it are double colas.
