1st time

Hi all

this is my first psot so be nice

i have a wooden box made from MDF measuring 16 inch w x 16inch l x 28inch high.

Would this be ok for growing 1 x small indica ?

CFL's would be used - im in the process of getting 1 x 6400k 105w bulb and 1 x 2700k 105w bulb. I think i could be with a little more, so am going to to buy a couple of small CFL's.

it would be useful for me to know if i can veg under the 1 x 6400k bulb and then flowering with the 1 x 2700k bulb.

would i need a inlet and exhuast fan while only using 1 bulb at a time.

as my height is a little restricted i plan on putting the plant/s into flower when reaching approx 2.5inch.

Would there be enough room for 2 plants ?

The box should be ok for just one plant! As for the lights:

I would use both the lights together. The mixed spectrum would be good for the plants.
You may add a few more later on, as the plant gets bigger.

You could comfortably grow two autoflowering plants in there, if you wish.

You are going to need that exhaust. It will surprise you how hot a small space can get with just one bulb!
Just use a passive intake.

i was planning on using just 1 x 105w cfl 6400k while vegging and maybe 1 or 2 of 2700k smaller cfl (23w or so)
when flowering i wanted to swap the 105 for the other 105w 2700k and maybe add 1 or 2 smaller cfl in 6500k.

Would this be ok?

as i'm a true newbie, am not sure what a passive intake is.

I would just go with both the 105W bulbs from the get go. It is good for your plant.

Seeing as your grow is tiny, I doubt you will need any more light. For an exhaust system, you can use PC fans, wired to a cell phone charger.

passive intake is a hole, without a fan, that allows air to enter your grow. It is suggested that this opening should be twice as large as the exhaust opening.

by using both of the lights at the same time on a 18/6 for vegging. would i just change the cycle when i want to flower with the same bulbs

Yes, if you use all of the bulbs from the get go, a good idea if you ask me, just change from 18/6 to 12/12. You will want to change the nutes that you are using a that time as well. Watch your temps with all of the lights in there and have a plan if it gets too hot. Good luck!

As stated above i'm looking into auto flowering plants to keep the height down a lilttle.
autoflowering - would there be any point in me changing light cycles. Or would it be best if using auto flowering to kepp it either at 18/6 or 12/12.

I plan on having approx 3-5inch exhaust fan at the top, leading to some activated carbon to try and keep the smell down.

Use all the lights you got from the start. I harvested about 1oz per plant in 2gallons of soil. Dont know what youre soil volume is, but you could get away with 2 gallons if they gna finish small. Always put plants in seperate tubs. With the small ammount of lights you got, you will defintely be spinning and moving them around to share. Why go autoflower, unless you are growing multiple strains in different stages under same lights?

Reg female beans are my fav. to control height, you just switch the lights sooner. I just dont understand how an auto strain could make the best use of your equip/room. Seems like chosing the cycle would make it easier to control the height and yield. Just my 2cents

I think i will be going with both of my lights at the same time from the word go

1x105w 6400k and 1 x 105w 2700k = 13600 lumens for my space. This should be enough shoudnt it.

The reason i was thinking of going with auto strain was becuase of the height control as most of the seeds ive seen grow between 40-80cm which would fit in my box.

I dont plan on growing muti strains. As this would be my first grow i want to get 1 x decent plant with decent smoke. Then i can either experiment or do a couple of diiferent strains.

I will have a look around for the best seeds that would suit my enviroment.

I agree with yourself i could switch the light cycle to control the height of them.
