2 blue dreams and a couple questions

So not much is happening with my blue dream. I'm really bummed that she is growing so slow. I mean she is healthy, green and sturdy; but just not growing at the rate I'm used to seeing. I mean, most the plans I have grown start out slow because I start training early on, but not this bad. I mean COmE ON!!! Anyways, I'm not losing anything by growing her so ill just see how long it takes for her to catch up with herself. Here is a quick pic.

the second set of branches from the top are a bit longer since this pic, and hey are ties as well to open up for the top two. I still havnt fed her and I am letting her dry out pretty well. Just watered last night. I know it's moths light that is making her grow so slow. I have veg'd with 2700k before and it didn't cause any problems. And with only 20w more than this grow. I'm really stumped with how slow this girls is growing. It may be that she is an HSO BD.

That's hso's blue dream that I'm running (to the far left in my pic.. I think I posted it in this thread anyways) and it outgrew the other 3 strains I have going with it. Plus their blue dream is supposed to be a heavy yielder, which it probably wouldn't be considered if it was a slow grower.

Looking at the picture, it looks like the leaves are a little soft/spongie, almost like they've been over watered-- I know you said you've been letting it dry out, how dry do you get it? I've also seen that type of swollen leaves and wondered if it's pH or something. Either one of those could be contributing to the slow growth rate.

ya i dont know whats goin on. i dint have a ph meter but ive never checked ph before and its always worked out. the leaves are in the light in that pic, they are pretty dark green, and they are firm and healthy... at least it seems. i let her get pretty dry. and my soil drains really well. when transplanted into the Styrofoam cup, the roots were really white and healthy, and fat. im really stumped on this plant. so its not the genetics, its not the watering, maybe the feeding and may be ph.. what can i get that will possibly correct whatever is going on? besides more light cause that is not an option right now, but will Epsom salt help any? or anything? i guess having relatively easy grows thus far, im due for a troubled child!

Yeah, who knows man. Im technically on my third grow (I guess, my second big harvest is in flower but I had a plant ran solo in between the first and second run, plus I have aeroponics going that I started a month ago.). Any who, my first grow (and veg of my second) I seemed to have suuuuch slow growth. I literally had a sativa dominant pheno that I vegged for like 3 months and then flowered for 16. Even when they were small, (especially when they were small, actually) the growth was just really slow, and I never quite figured it out.

In soil, pH shouldn't really be a problem. What kind of dirt is it in? I've read in grow books that if you have super slow growth, its probably a pH thing, but I think that was more for hydroponics. Plus, I'm starting to see more and more people claiming they do absolutely nothing with pH and have never had any problems, so who knows.

Other factors that could be affecting it, is light and air. Both are important for photosynthesis, do you have a fresh air supply? Probably not a problem bc co2 levels are usually higher indoors bc of people in the house.

So you say the leaves feel good and firm? They don't seem squishy/spongy at the base of the leaf fingers, where they connect to the leaf petiole?

As far as epsom-- magnesium is a really important part of the chlorophyll molecule, so its definitely important in growth, but again at that size it seems like even slightly hard/not even quite hard tap water should have enough magnesium to sustain it.

Are you giving nutrients? What kind? What kind of soil? Sorry if you've answered this. I use aurora's roots organics line for my soil grows, and have great results but lately I've started feeding synthetic nutes from my kind line (botanicare) and the difference in growth has just been amazing.

i am feedig slightly with super thrive right now, and m using fox farms ocean forest this go around. usually i use miracle gro

i have a fan blowing on the whole setup from th top and the temos are great. i do however only have 88w of fluoro on her right now. and they are all 2700k bulbs. its never been a problem with the 2700k in veg before, and my last grow only had 30w more the whole way through.

So here she is as of an hour ago. Looking healthy. Has a couple leaves with some brown spots. Maybe nute burn? I sound like a total noob, but I've never once run into problems like this before. But over all she looks really healthy and she is really sturdy.

And I took the other blue dream that got nute burn waaay too early on off the fridge (her and my alien og were sitting on the fridge with only natural and t8 lighting) and threw the blue dream back in the box with the other BD. any ways, so I'm goin to see how they turn out. I'll just keep veging them until they are ready.

Why do you use miracle grow? We call it plant crack there are so many different nutes on the market these days. Do you have good luck using it? Have you ever used age old kelp?

Yeah, I mean hell when my plants in my aero setup where that small they still only had 1 23w cfm per plant, and they were still growing fine.

And a 2 litre is about a half a gallon so I would add 1 teaspoon for a plant that small.

And the leaves are a lot smaller than mine were at that stage also. I wonder if it's just that yours is more sativa dominant. The leaves on mine were pretty wide (the fingers) but also long.

I guess just keep on going, let them keep going and see if you can figure out what you've done differently this time around, or what might be different in the environment. That's how my soil grows are; they don't go that slow but I wouldn't dream of putting plants in flower that were begged 4 weeks from seed; they just wouldntbbe big enough for me.

These Blue Dream clones are at 10 days of veg using a mix of FF OF and Roots along with several other organic additives. I'll flip them in a few days usually around 12 days of veg then total dark for 48 hrs before a 12/12 bloom for 50. I supplement with cal/mag, old age kelp, and maxi grow/bloom keeping the ph around 6.2. They really thrive for there relatively short life.

never used kelp, i was using miracle gro soil for a while and it always did great, i didnt have to feed anything until flower

damn those are some really nice looking clones you have there!

and ya i am goiing to start fresh after this one flowers. i think i am gong to get a timer soon and just flip them. see how much i can get out of a plant that small!

I guess if something works well for you why switch. Do you notice any salt build up or nutrient lock using MG? I like to stay more on the natural side when it comes to fertilizers. I do use maxi grow to get things going I try to cut it down by week 3. There are so many unregulated chemical fertilizes available its hard to tell what your actually feeding your girls and eventually smoking or eating yourself.

I'm like you--aero is awesome, and I haven't seen the flowers yet but organic soil is noooiice. The plants are so much sturdier in soil, I swear it seems like it would be harder for the same strain to get the same weight in soil and aero, with soil plants actually turning to wood and having stronger plants.

What I've been doing lately, is switching back and forth with my nutes on my soil grow. I'll feed hydro nutes, then next watering I'll feed the roots organics nutes, then next feed synthetic, then flush. I haven't had any problems so far, the white lavenders I'm running are really drinking it up, and are producing the best results I've had so far in terms of fast bud growth.

Btw, I'm assuming by your name that you are relatively close to (if not in) the emerald triangle-- is that blue dream a clone-only phwno that you picked up around there? My pheno seems slightly indica; I was hoping for more of a sativa bit we'll see how the bud turns out. My first couple of grows produced some amazing Kush's and now I'm on the hunt for a great clear, clean day time smoke.

I'm directly in the center of the emerald triangle!! This is where all the pot shows were filmed over the last few years. I was born and raised here in Humboldt and would never live anywhere else except maybe Hawaii. The summers smell like oceans and the fall smells like MMJ. The strain I have been running the last few years is sativa all the way. The smell is completely Blue Berry with a Haze smoke flavor 30 min later when you re-enter the room . I just finished some HSO BD seeds along with my regular strain and was less than impressed with it. I have started a grow journal and will update it when I replace my computer its not working very well. When I type it misses the space bar and random letters I want to smash it to pieces right now very badly but I can't until my new PC arrives .

no salt build or lock outs with MG. i just make sure i have about 1/4 to 1/2 the pots worth of runoff. to make sure there are no buldups.

and you know, all my life ive been in san digo, and never once gone up to Humboldt. always wanted to, but i dont knw anyone up there, and all the guys i know tht have gone, knew somone and were invited. it would be strange a random (me) showing up in a place where i probably have been getting all my good weed from my whole life.

but quick update, i fed last watering, thinking maybe it was time, and now i have either nute burn or some sort of def. it is brown blots on some of the leaves, and now when i looked at them, some are turning a dull green and drying out. im at a loss for this grow fellas. i mat try and get some fresh seeds and start over. this is very frustrating. so now i have extremely slow growth, yet healthy and sturdy, and now im getting burnt of deficient leaves. i mean i am still going to grow them out until i get some new seeds, but man.... so i looked up some def pics, and thought maybe it was Mg def, so i sprayed the leaves with a epsom sat mix, cause the soil is still too damp for another watering. we'll see how this goes. ill post a pic later.
