2 Led lights or 1 led light and a light mover?

Photosynthesis is a by the numbers thing: it takes 8-9 photons to synthesize one sugar molecule. Moving the light around is not going to change the amount of photons in your growspace. Its a tool to use if your light is too hot and intense to be in one spot all the time; basicly for high watt hps. Led lights dont need movers as they are generally easier to design with a good spread.
Right but we can stretch those numbers by a few square ft it all adds up at 33 cents per KWH.

Then use 2 lights at less power? Another issue with light movers is that the two extremes of the mover will have less light than the middle so un even cannopy. youre just stretching the same light over a larger area, which is the same as 2 low power lights. But with a light mover youre intruducing possibilities of mechanical faults. I never like to mess with Murphy.

2 led lights for sure. These days a mover is practical only in a setup that's applied with a fully controlled intervalically changing environment. Just an opinion.

No you can not stretch those numbers. Using a light mover will not get you any more gram per watt as opposed to not using one.
Your wrong son I used them for yrs. I used to run 1k hps with a 4 ft mover had 2 set up in a 5x12 always pulled the same weight as running 3 lights in same set up. at 33 cents per KWH thats huge.

I use two LEDs on a light rail at the moment. I don’t have them moving far, only about 1.5 ft each, but I usually have three plants in a 3x9 space. As far as an uneven canopy the light rail will dwell at either end so that is not an issue. It doesn’t add any more light, that’s a given, but it does get a more even and deeper penetration into the canopy since the angles and shadows are moving around all the time. I don’t know that it is worth the expense but I already have it so why not use it. I don’t think my yields per plant changed much with or without the rails, but I gained a bit of space to add an extra plant. Of course the cost is I run the lights a bit hotter than I would if they were not moving. I guess my 2 cents is if your looking for cost savings it’s probably not worth getting a light rail, if your looking to optimize the lights you have the rails can help.

Finally a good post from someone who has used a mover TY like you say it gives a bit more room for a few more plants at the same cost.
