2 plants in one pot indoor?????

Hello, it's my first time growing, I have a 5x5x6.5 grow tent and a 1000 watt light, I got mostly all the stuff I need, but then getting pots came around and i'm so used to seeing outdoor ladies in like 50-100 gallons so I just went ahead and got 10 gallon pots but after reading more about pots and such, it seems that I would be wasting my time using 10 gallons for an indoor setup, i'm only going to do 6 plants for legality reasons, so I went with the common misconception I guess (get the biggest pot I can for the biggest yeild). Apparently it's not true so now i'm stuck with 10 gallons and am wondering how do you think I would do with 4 pots and 2 plants or seeds in each one, and if so how should I go about it? Straight from seed or do transplanting. I was also thinking maybe reconstructing them to a smaller size since they are fabric pots and can be sewed. Please any thoughts, questions if needed, ideas statements anything would be great. Thanks in advance

Do what you need to to keep from planting more than one per container. It will be much easier on you and the plants. G/L!

To state the first thing that occurs to me, what if one got sick? their root systems are going to intertwine, no way to prevent that, so its likely any diseases would be fatal to two plants instead of one. Also, that might create a rather large demand on the soils nutrients, secondary nutrients, and trace elements. All academic hypothesis tho, would be interested in hearing how it turned out if you did use two per pot.

Why would you do that? Serious question?

On the other hand the bigger pot might actually equate to a bigger harvest if you decide you want to grow some giant cannabis bearing trees, lol. Have seen huge ones grown outdoors, a friend said he puts his in veg state for an extra month, and gets around a pound per plant, using a nutrient/soiless setup. More branches can mean more cannabis, so it seems logical at least prima facea.

Well i'm hoping they don't get sick in any way, i'll be able to check up on them daily so, at this point I was thinking i'm going to reconstruct 4 of them and then keep one 10 gallon and try 2 in it because i'm also curious my self, i've been looking around and hear good and bad, bad because of root tangle, lack of nutes, no room,ect. but I could only find people talking about doing it in 5 gallons or less. I saw somewhere that you want atleast 5 gallons of soil per plant. Rule of thumb. Some good thoughts about it is if you provide more nutes then the roots wont even need to strech alot and search for food thus no tangleing and having 2 healty plants in one pot could potentially put out more yeild than one healthy plant. I'm also planning to scrog and top and train growth so maybe it will be better.

Because i already orderd 10 gallon pots and it would be useless to spend money for shipping and a restocking fee to send them back for smaller ones.

And I honestly don't see why it couldent work?

Yes, it will work. It's not ideal (imo), but the great thing is, you can manage your grow any way you want. It may get a bit crowded but lst 'em if needed.

Yeah that's true and now that I have a tent inside I can play around alot more and whenever I need/want to so this first one around will be somewhat experimantal I guess. I was thinkg also maybe putting something thin in the middle of the pot to seperate the sides.. Like a pice of cardboard or something

Yeah, I was thinking of a divider as well. Give it a shot.

I sure will one with no divider one with one and see how it goes.. Just waiting for a few more things and my seeds to come, Chocolate kush and White skunk then i'm off to growin!

Ive seen it done. By a Staff Member here. 10 gallon kitty litter containers. Two plants a piece. Monsters too. If youre weirded out, (which i was prior to seeing that) you could always get a sheet of plastic and stick it right down the middle.

I would of though it's a bad idea as one plant will dominate for root space leaving the other with small weak roots not to mention if it got into adolescence surely the thickness of the canopy would be hard for the light to penetrate it and if one is male and needs chopping down wouldn't the dying rotting roots effect the healthy remaining plant?

The only problem I see with it would be, if one plant gets sick and the other remains healthy. By aiding the sick plant it could affect the healthy one and make it sick. Then you could be just battling back and forth with a sick plant. The divider idea might work.

You really only want to do this with clones from the same plant unless you run full dividers

i say if you are going to experiment do 3 plants in a 50 gallon under a scrog,that will blast that tent under 1000 watts

They would be fine I would think, just depends on how long the veg is. Flower pots have many plants in one pot. You could try even three or four per pot. Kind of a sea of green. Multiple single cola plants.
