2 week old seedling, has weird stuff on leaves.

Hey guys I've got this weird stuff on the leaves of my L.A Confidential seedling, not sure if it's powdery mildew as from what I've seen on other photos, it looks more powdery and less 'fluffy' and clustered.

Anyways I'm guessing it most likely is PM as I've heard there are different kinds, but I'd just like somebody to chime in and confirm it for me.

Also any advice on what to do with the seedling? I'm guessing it's better for me to trash the seedling if its PM since I'm looking for a mother plant.

Heres the pictures.

Hope you guys can help, cheers, and stay high!

Edit: A member on another forum commented saying he thinks it is a PH problem, as I have been watering my plants with PH 7 water from the RO machine and he thinks it must be lowered to 5.6 - 5.8. Your thoughts?

Expert grower here, 2 commercial grows under my belt. (200+ plants per grow)

This is not a ph problem. This is a bug infestation. Possibly a combination of bugs and micro organisms attacking your plant. Easy to combat organically.

1. Get some tobacco (even a ciggy will do)
2. Dip the tobacco or ciggy inside a cup of water that has sat in the sun for at least 6 hours.
3. Let the tobacco juices fill the cup (takes 1 hour)
4. After the water is looking yellow and smelling disgusting move to step #5.
5. Filter the tobacco and ciggy into another cup using paper towel.
6. Put 1 drop of dishwashing liquid inside your cup of tobacco juice.
7. Use this juice to mist the plant once a day for 7 days.

Problem solved.

Thanks for replying OzGrower! I'm guessing you're certain or atleast fairly certain about this being a bug infestation?

Looks like I'm off to buy a pack of durries as I'm a non-smoker ><

Also, do you think it is necessary to isolate the plant?

... Speaking of bugs, one day I came home and found a little moth looking thing on this exact seedling! Pretty sure on one of the leaves that has the weird stuff on it now, pretty sure it wasn't a moth although it looked like one, it was bout 3/4 of a cm, whiteish/transparent, body looked like it was smoooth - didn't have that powdery shit that moths have.

I am fairly certain this is a bacterial or pest infestation. Regardless, even if in the event that i am wrong. The pest recipe i gave to you will only protect and/or eliminate any existing pests on the plant and not do any damage whatsoever to it if you apply it anyway.

The markings on the plant would suggest this is a Thrips infection - which is extremely common. I can tell by the way the leaves have that distinct marking in them as if they have been eaten or attacked by Thrips larvae (baby thrips) 1 Thrips mother can lay up to 300 eggs per day. Which can, and will cause serious issues as it spreads everywhere.

Thrips normally attack from bottom and move up to healthy leafs.

I'm 98% convinced it is thrips now, I googled thrips and what I saw on my plant looked exactly like one of those suckers! And it had wings so I'm guessing it was a mature one, it got away though and flew somewhere in my grow box and I thought nothing of it since I thought it was a type of moth at the time. Since its in my veg area now I'm worried it's gonna attack my other plants, although they seem to be perfectly healthy at the moment.

Anyway, I will start with the tobacco water tomorrow and I will update this thread as to how it goes. It's still encouraged that other people chime in with their opinion.

I must say I'm very grateful for your advice OzGrower, thanks heaps buddy. Been clueless as to what to do about this for the past couple days and was about to trash the seedling as I thought it was Powdery Mildew.

No problem dude.

Thrips will spread, and very fast. A normal queen can lay 300 eggs per day. I suggest you use the tobacco water and protect all your plants. Also make sure to mist the leaves during the night cycle, not during the day cycle.

The nicotine in the tobacco will destroy the Thrips. The dishwashing liquid (1 drop) will make sure the tobacco water is stuck onto the leaves suffocating any adult larvae and inducing the nicotine.

I've dealt with Thrips before and you need to act fast as they spread extremely fast. The biggest issue with Thrips is that they can be extremely resilient against chemicals, they just won't fucking die. There's a certain strain of Thrips that are resilient in most chemicals that you use to combat them, these are the hardest to remove.

sadly there is no way to tell what strain of Thrips you have.
