Hey all,
I got some decent weed about a month ago decided to try a few of the seeds and see how they grow. I used bad soil, and that bothers me. It was something I had laying around in a bag after I planted a garden. and it clearly says right on the bag (not for use indoors)
Anyway besides that, I lined the closet with foil and have 4 of the 42watt 150 equivelent cfl's in there and its crazy bright for that little closet. Every time I open the closet I think Jesus is gonna pop out with all that light.
Anyway Here is the pic. Just wanted to add the experience. I'm gonna put this little plant on the 12/12 cycle in about a week.

looks a bit yellowy but it looks strong overall. looks like its getting ready to bear some serious fruit. mine were indoor to start and they ended up stretching out too much.

i'd give it at least another week or two before starting a different light schedule. it could end up producing a lot, so you minus well let her grow up a bit more.

O YEAH! NO FOIL. big noob mistake. its on about 200 other threads. it creates hotspots and con burn the plant. stick to mylar or white paint. GET RID OF THE FOIL.

I read up about the hot-spots too,
I heard that if the foil is dull side out the hot spots are seriously reduced , if any.
The walls are white already, so if I do remove the foil, i will most likely add 1 or 2 more of these cfl's...Thank for the input, I appreciate it
as far as the yellow color goes, I think its the light and the photo, when i examine the plant out of the closer, i like the nice green color it has.

A few thing i suggest changing....just to help, nothing bad your doing, looks great.

1-What color are the 42W, i've never seen any that were daylight which is suggested for veg, if thats what your doing. For vegging a plant its recommended to use the Bluer light rather than red, which i assume your using, as its a 42w. Seems that your going to 12/12 in a week, so just leave it as it is, and get them as close as possible......2" move them as needed....Plant or lights. You have no stretching so void this....

2-They do look yellowish or very light green. With lights on, taking pictures, back off on the camera lighting......will show more of its natural dark green than the yellowish green, which seems very thin/heathly but starved for light.

3- If your using foil, us the non shiney side......the shiney will build hot spots and possibly burn the plant, go to walmart, and go get some saftey or emergency blankets, they're like $2 and in the camping section.....1 is about 4'x8' IIRC. Those white walls are better imo than foil.

Will keep a tab on this.

Yeah, i dont think theres any problem with the yellowyness, most of it is probably from the lighting.

its small, but looks decently stocky. all in all, there are no visible problems, and you have a great start.

this is to smelter: im still a noob, but i was under the impression that CFL's were the best way to give energy to a plant while veggin'. I didnt know that they could have color...

but yeah, once they flower, you should swich to HPS lights if they are within your price range.

About the color, its the temperture in kelvin of the actual color of light.

Blue light ~ 6500-6700K , ie Cool light, cool White, Daylight
Red light ~ 2500-3000K, , ie warm white, soft white.

Blue recommended for vegging, Red for flower.

As seen here. Color of Light

I actually have the 4 CFL's pretty far away from the plants, yet there isn't any real stretching going on. That is a pretty good sign that there is enough light and no need to have it right on top of the plants.
I will take another picture of the plant soon so you can see that it wasn't the actual Yellowish color of the leaves.
Also I think it must be due to this crappy soil I'm using but i need to water them every morning, the soil totally dries out it seems. Even a inch or 2 down is dry, and i am giving a decent watering each morning.

on 2nd thought, my plant is a really light shade of green, anyone know why? Lack of nutrients? or maybe just the strain, and since its bagseed i have no idea what kind it even is. Maybe the bad soil is weakening it and the color isn't healthy, who knows

Hey i was wondering could u tell me exactly what lights u bought. I'm reading the forums and im having a hard time finding howmany lights i need for one plant in a closet. I know this is might me asking a bit much but what brand name is it ? Can i get it from Wal Mart or Home Depot. also are cfl's more cost effective ? LOL< i like the blue light.

They have them at any story like home depot or Walmart, they are just the 42 watt CFL 150 watt equivelent. you will hear a lot of different recomendations here, and sure some are much better then others, but the bottom line is that you can use these lights from start to finish for both veg. and flowering, and you can have a great yield.
In fact cfl's are probably one of the most commonly used lights in the past year or so.

If you start that little thing flowering right now, you will be sorely dissapointed. Give it a few weeks, you'll be suprised how big it will get if you take care of it.

I have seer plants raised 12/12 from seed and produce a gram per watt of light. Its been documented. Of course each strain reacts differently to this but none the less, you are speaking from what you have read, not from actual experience with trying it with this particuar strain.
Would my plants produce more if I let them Veg more? Absolutely, but can I still expect a decent amount of bud if I flower this "little thing" next week, absolutely!

How did u get the lights like that ? are u using a fixture that has a place for multiple bulbs ? or did u make that urself ? I would use cfl bulbs but i can't figure out how im going to get alot of them in my closet. I've seen alot of ppl do it, how do i do it ? I will get one long florescent lamp, but i want these bulbs too !
