2 x 2 small scale ROLS grow

Hey guys,

Moved into a smaller place and really had to downsize in terms of growing to a 2 x 2 x 5 grow tent.

I mixed my first batch of organic soil (base of peat moss/shrimp compost, 10% ewc, mixture of perlite and rice hulls for aeration, mycorrhizae, insect frass, kelp, alfalfa, basalt, oyster shell flour, gypsum, neem meal as amendments).

It’s been cooking for 2 weeks and I ideally have another 14 days to go before I can plant in it. I have various smart pot sizes and my question is should I go with one 10-15 gallon or should I go with 3-3 gallon pots and recycle my living soil? I’m trying to maximize the space I have and would love your input.

I would get the one 10-15 gal for living soil. I use 15's.

Thanks man @PadawanWarrior. I have a 66l tote cooking off. I’ll do the one plant in the larger 15 gallon. Just concerned with how small the footprint is if a 15 gallon will fit in a 2 x 2 so I might rock a 10 gallon just to be safe

I have 2 15 gal and 2 3 gal plastic pots in my 2x4. And I put some 1 gal pots in there too sometimes. The 15 is just a little taller than the 10. Fabric pots are better for living soil, but I would have to water everyday.

Awesome man! Pretty sure I could fit one 15 gallon in my space then that’s awesome news. Looking good bro keep rocking it!

I go with the 3 gls, simply based on variety.

@R Burns thanks for the answer man. In your experience how many do you think I could fit in the 2 x 2? About 4? I do like some variety in my life but also love the idea of no till

What is the light that you'll use?

Ok. So I would do 4 in 3 gls. Mainline each for 4 colas, for a total of 16. Gotta get these in flower in around 4 wks time or you'll run out of container space.

Amazing bro really appreciate your help @R Burns Was planning on a shorter veg time given the space. Could I get away with just an lst instead of main line?

Of course. But mainline is easy and perfect for small setups. Increase your yields a lot doing it like that. Plus you'll use up alot of nutes, unnecessarily, with just the lst. Lots of lower branches and leaves that won't amount to anything or you'll just remove, eventually. With mainlining, you just got colas and accompanying leaves. Better airflow, less chance of rot or pm or pests. Super efficient and produces.

I agree with R Burns. I'm in the process of converting a cabinet in my garage to a small 2 plant grow, each plant will have it's own 2x2 space and I planned on mainlining each plant to have 8 colas. Cant wait!

In your case, it would be just 2 strategic cuts. Really, thats it. Super easy.
