So this will be my first attempt at both a hydro grow and a SCROG. I figured that with the hydro it would make the most sense to SCROG it as well since I wont have to worry about watering the plants. For the DWC set up I made my own out of 5gal buckets with a measuring tube for the water level and a drain/filling tube at the bottom. The drain tube runs to a drain on the floor and I can also hook it up to the faucet to fill the two buckets so I shouldn't have to move them at all. Right now PH is sitting at 6.1 right now so I think Ill leave that alone unless there are any concerns that its too basic.

They've recovered well from the initial stress/shock of being transitioned from soil to hydro and are now up and growing and looking healthy. I have the SCROG net set about 8 inches off the top of the plants and the lights are about 17inches off the top of the pots. Im not sure exactly how far up to set the net but 8inches seemed like a good place to start. Any suggestions for height of the net?

Didnt realize how fast hydro can grow, they have really been taking off in a big way. So far they look to be staying pretty bushy which should work out pretty well. Ive got a bit of allege growth in the tube. I could probably redesign it so it has a cover down the road but I'm also going to flush it this week just to keep it from building up too much.

What panels are those? Vipars? How far are the buckets to the screen? 10" or so?

Didja/are you going to do any training or topping before they hit the net, or are you going to rely on the net to turn them over? We started talking about this in dawg's thread yesterday and I got to thinking... There is probably a thousand different approaches to a SCROG..

3x3' room? What did you end up using for your net?

Here's the lights, solid construction seem very well made but not a brand that I had really followed at all - http://www.amazon.com/Grow-Pro-Plant-100x3W-Orange/dp/B007PJX8DK/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1367164319&sr=8-5&keywords=300w+led+grow+light

The two panels draw 337W which is about what I figured when buying them.

The screens are home made with nylon cord and small eye screws in a pine frame. Should be ok to cut it out when the grow is over and relace a new one.

The box is home made and vents with a 8" 400+ CFM fan and keeps the temps around 70 degrees or a little bit higher if I have the cloning box going at the same time. Ive grown soil in it once before and it turned out pretty well. With these plants they were both topped before being transferred into the DWC but other than that Ill just keep poking them down through the net until they get to where I want them and let it go. Ill prob switch to 12/12 in the next week or so.

Looking at how much space is already starting to get filled on the net Ive put them into 12/12 today. Also drained that water and adjusted the nutes for transition. Following the generic nute chart from GH.

As far as net height goes the general guidline about is 8" above the pot for indica, 12" for a hybrid, and 18" for sativa. Of course these can all be changed according to your strains growth patterns.

Although its a hybrid I really feel like this strain is indica dominant. It stays pretty low and has huge fan leaves for a cabinet grow. I could be way off, thats just my feeling having grown this lady a few times.

End of the first week of 12/12 and looking good. Been keeping the PH between 6.5 and 7.5. Ill wait till I have the first signs of flowering and then switch the nutes from transition to bloom. Any advice on when and if to lolly pop/trim out the bottom leaves?

I couldn't open the page, what is it? This is the first hydro Ive done and so far it seems pretty good but Ive got nothing from my personal experience to compare with it.

wierd ? it have been online for years and now its suddenly down ? Ooh well the Lucas Formula is just another way to use GH`s 3 part nuts, some guy (Lucas) found out that the micro contain enough nitrogen, so you don't really need the Veg bottle, just the bloom and micro in a 2:1 ratio all grow believe it was sumthing like 8ml micro and 16ml bloom per gallon of RO water

look good :D

you say you keep the PH between 6,5 and 7,5 do you talk about your water ? if so 7,5 is a bit on the high, try to keep it close to 6,5

tho if its good soil your in and the plants look healthy and don't take for ever after watering to bounce up, your fine

and yes wait with the bloom nuts until the stretch is done (fist few weeks of 12/12) they need the nitrogen here to do good and stay healthy, to many Ppl. cut the N. when they start 12/12 and end up with yellow leave`s and not much Bud site grow doing the fist 4 weeks of flowering (just my experience)

about lollypoping and trimming, do it now, fist few weeks of 12/12 the plant can still take the stress with out to many problems, once its done with the stretch and start setting flowers you need to treat em like babies, I did most of mine and just finish week two of 12/12

DSC01551.jpgDSC01541.jpg

tho I have`t lollypop them much, I have been de-leaveing this time, have never been a fan of removing anything from my plants, just don't like it :D but I seen the proof/result and specially with LEDs you need to do sum thing, IMO its all a question of keeping them Bud site`s with in the light, one way or the other and remove them you cant get in there as they only will take up energy from the plant, energy it could have used on Bud site`s up near the light, down side of indoor growing and use of artificial light, just have to be creative to get our plants fit it ..

Awesome, thanks for the reply. Ill lower the PH a bit (DWC so the water in the buckets) and start looking into some lolly-popping on this week. In the same way, I never like to cut fan leaves but I feel like with a good scrog they wont get much if any light anyway.

Still comming along quite well. I took some of the larger fan leaves out and that freed up a lot of room for some more flower sights to start peeking through the net. Ill be switching out the nutes today to the flowering/ripening mix now that there are some signs of flowering. Still really impressed with how low maintenance this DWC set up is. I can leave it alone for days at a time and its totally fine, makes it very convenient.
