Hello! I'm trying to select a tent to go with my 2000 watt soil grow. Would a 4 x 8 be fine? I will be growing 8 plants only, so what size tent, and how tall should the plants be before I flip to 12/12 ? thanks...

why soil? not dwc or auto-pot? your plants will double at least or triple , 2000w for a soil grow seems a bit overkill you would get better yields with dwc......

I did not like DWC indoors. The solution temp needs to stay pretty close to the ideal 68-72F. I found this very VERY difficult and down right impossible during the summer. Organic soil grows can make wonderful high quality buds and the soil is a great temperature insulator for your root zone. Grow in the style you want, but don't discount the choice of others to grow in a style to work with nature.

hahaha I use 6000w for my soil grows and pull 20- 25 lbs in a 10 x 18 room..no fuse no muss..strain and technic related

If you run hydro you will need a chiller for the summertime

Height of your plant at onset depends on strain and the stretch it does during the first 14 days of onset

My friend you need to see the truth, for some, a natural organic and quality product trumps quantity.
And don't underestimate how much organic soil has the potential to produce.

Only in summertime? I had enough issues just dealing with the temps in the spring and fall. ;) But I am with you, an organic soil grow is way more rewarding in so many ways.

50W/sqft. 40sqft with 2000W will get you 50W/sqft (2000W/40sqft).

You can use this rule of thumb for any size setup.

you want a 5 x 10 for 2 -1000s on ebay for $250-350 and a 8 inch exhaust
You do not need a 5x10 tent. You can use a 4x8 as well and it would give you approx 60 watts per sqft instead of the 40 watts per sqft with the 5x10 would give you.. You're major issue is going to be temps, so you'll have to take that into account.

I'll be using a 1000w in a 4x4 tent which will give the same watts per sqft as your setup with a 4x8 tent

i run 2000w in a 7x8 room with a 8'' can fan for exhaust and a 8'' home depot inline fan to cool the hoods and temps are not a issue

Why got to be in the tent. As if your losing a little height by using a tent your making harder for yourself to cool the space.

Just as cheap if not cheaper to sheet a room out.

I guessing he has his reasons, but for all the tent haters lol here are mine:

  1. Mine is that I can have both a veg and flowering area in the same room.
  2. I have an isolated environment where I only have to worry about conditions in 1 small space, I do not have to use as much CO2 if I choose to use C02, I do not need to carbon scrub an entire room when I only need to use a 5x5 or so space, it's an extra container/barrier against smells, bugs, mold, sound, etc, I do not have to worry about light proofing the entire room, etc.
  3. I do not own my home, so I can't not drill into the ceiling or walls or do a whole bunch of extra stuff.
  4. I do not have to drill or do any extra construction like work... Less physical work..
  5. I can easily tear everything down without a trace and/or reposition everything from where my lights are hanging and/or how I have everything ducted and/or even what side of the room my tent is on with less hassle...

Well losing height isn't really a big issue. You can lose height, but gain time or lose time and gain height... Both ways work themselves out when everything is said and done..
