I'm curious about the cooking process...

As i understand it, all ingredients are mixed thoroughly and placed in garbage cans, water added, and left to cook in the sun.

Is the mix left entirely alone to cook, or is it stirred in the garbage cans occasionally?

Then after cooking is complete everything is poured out and thoroughly mixed together again before its placed back in storage until use?

Sorry to be confused about something so simple. Can't wait to crack my AO, JCII, and get some soil cooking!

Can you check this link and tell me if this is the Humic Acid that you use or is similar to what you use for your recipe? That is the only product i am a little confused on. Thank You

Hey Sub you flush your soil at all before harvest?

drummers- yes that is humic acid, I use it myself

Tagh- There is no flush needed with subs recipe. Just add water

cap crunch- mix all the componets in the recipe, put into plastic containers, add water and let cook in the sun is what I do and everything works out amazing

I just pulled 3.5 lbs off of 3 1000 watt bulbs using all of subs techniques, I just read all of his stickies asked a few questions and as of now growing the best canabis I have ever grown.

if time is of the essence, whats your min time required for sun bake?? -- can i get away w/ 5-7 days? - - - and also what size holes are you growing in, 7 gal? and how many do these fill if you dont mind me asking, --

i guess the third comment/question would be, hypothetically speaking - if you were to grow in a 100gal pot what would the ratios be for this mix....---hope the questions were clear, look forward to hearing back

^@ headimonster, in the threads regarding super soil(yes there are more than one) Subcool describes your first question in plain as day... 30 days. He mixes his in rubbermaid trash bins, uses 7 gallon pots. He is not a math teacher so you may need to do your ratios yourself as you are the one mixing and growing to your needs. The exact measurements are described in the tutorials. From that you should be able to do the math. The answer to your sixth question regarding JC2's yield and feeding can be answered by using logics and reading descriptions of JC2. Subcool states that JC2 is a good yeilder. He aslo states he only uses water throughout the grow, unless he decides one needs Succanat(spelling?) equiv to mollases. Hope this helps. Subcool has stated above that for now he is taking a break from supersoil questions as they can all be figured out independently by now and all the info is before you on this great website. Has anybody used the roots organic 707 mix vs the regular roots formula? If so, which one did you like better? From my understanding, the difference is that 707 has soy bean meal, kep meal, and coarse peat while the regualar roots has leonardite, alfalfa meal, green sand, kelp, and peat moss. I also noticed that this soil recipe seems to lack an amendment for potassium (K). Anybody care to comment? I know green sand and kelp have a lil bit of K but is that enough?

I jus picked up your ingredients for making this updated super soil.

I'm using roots, bu am having trouble finding biobizz light-mix..can I use FF light warrior in conjunction with roots (instead of light-mix) without disrupting the nutrient values and balance, or wutever???

Also, I notice that you are using guesstimates (with accuracy, nonetheless, but with sum leverage-guessing.....from your vid)............so I'm mixing up about a third to half of your 8 bags of soil (6 & 2 w/lightmix)...Now, using my guesses after your guesses and trying not to mess up (including halfing your recipe and such), my second to last question is, "have you ever made the mix too strong (too hot??) for the plants???" and if so, what amendments can be done if you notice this once the roots find the super soil? (---- & it's too strong for them, I presume).

Someone broke the recipe down to a 1/2 and 1/3 batch sizes in the old thread and i wrote it down a long time ago, i knew it would come in handy. I've even posted this for someone in the old thread lol. A half batch should be easy to figure out though

1/2 Batch:
4 bags Organic Base Soil
12.5-25 lbs. Worm Castings
2.5 lbs Fish Bone Meal
2.5 lbs Bat Guano
2.5 lbs Blood Meal
3/8 cup (1/4 cup + 1/8 cup) Epsom Salts
1/2 cup Sweet (dolomite) Lime
1/4 cup Azomite
1 Tbs Powdered Humic Acid

1/3 Batch:
2.7 bags Organic Base Soil
8-16 lbs Worm Castings
1.7 lbs Fish Bone Meal
1.7 lbs Bat Guano
1.7 lbs Blood Meal
1/4 cup Epsom Salts
1/3 cup Sweet (dolomite) Lime
2.5 Tbs Azomite
2 tsp. powdered HUmic Acid

And can you overdue it with the supplements and amendments.........causing problems?????

Im going to just do 10 - 15 plants to start my grow career and with all the cash dropped for lights and associated gear with sealing up the big room I need to save as much money as I can....but not wanting to scrimp on my plants health....now I can get started with a smaller soil batch till I can afford a bigger batch. Ive invested almost $1300 in this grow room and havent even cracked any seed yet.....

Still....I need to know how to cook this soil in the sun.....is it done in barrels and mixed up every week or what....do I let it bake in the sun with the lid off the container or in a kiddie pool so it gets sunlight??? I know it says to add water after the mix is all mixed up and in the barrels....how much water? Just to moisten it like you were watering a plant? I really want to get this right. I have asked these same questions in another thread and used the search function without success a few days ago and need to know as the shopping day is approaching...GRIN...

Just curious if anyone knows how to cook this stuff indoors. What temperature does the soil need to be? I finished mixing it today and it is being stored in 45 gallon Roughneck tubs to cook. Could a seedling heat mat be placed inside to help cooking? Or is that overkill?

No advice on cooking super soil indoors? I've just been turning the soil every couple days and airing it out. I hope I'm not screwing it up.

You don't necessarily need heat, it might just take a little longer to get started. You're mainly just giving the mix a chance to compost a bit and it'll create most of the heat it needs. You're doing fine just keep turning it.
