dude i live in WA too! how the fuck are you finishing your plants outdoors with the rain we had this week and last??
Rain is only a problem when the excess runoff water has no where to go and causes root rot or when rain water sits on the leaves and buds and causes mold. My plants are directly in the ground and the soil its in retains all the water it can and lets the rest go deeper in the ground for plants with deeper roots to access.
As for the mold I've been checking all the buds everyday for brown spots on stems, leaves, and buds. When i find a spot with mold i harvest it and cut out the mold. If you just cut the mold out and leave the bud on the plant, the mold can spread to other buds. If you remove the bud carefully you can spread the spores even further.
My plants are still growing though despite this cold weather, tonights supposed to hit 39. The weather is nice right now sunny with daytime highs in the 60's and 40's at night. This is will be the first night below 40. A storm is coming in on Friday so i am going to harvest on thursday or Friday.
They all look pretty shaded do your plants get any direct sunlight?
When i first started them they got like 8 to 9 hours direct sunlight. Now since the days are shorter they get like 5 or 6 maybe less.
How do the pennies stop the slugs?? Never heard of this
The slugs dont like the way copper feels on their bodies. Their slime has a chemical reaction with copper and it zaps them. The pennies were a failure. All it took was a leaf to fall on the barrier and the slug could climb over the pennies.
