Well guys its that time of year adn i figured i would put in some of my extra time and make a nice garden for my parents. This garden is maintenance free other than filling up the 55 gallon resovoir once about every 3 or 4 days. I didnt start from seed seeing that i am a beginner in this hole thing. I purchased the plant from lowes at various different sizes. Once they hit the 30 bags of dirt i have it the cage they have gone completly nuts and i am already having nice sized tomatoes forming!!! The line up consists of 3 big boy tomatoes, 2 husky cherry tom, 1 jalepeneo, 1 strawberry, 2 green peppers, and 2 chives, I also have a lil nirvana blackjack out there too lol. Well here are the pics tell me what you guys think!!004.jpg044.jpg037.jpg008.jpg005.jpg041.jpg009.jpg010.jpg045.jpg042.jpg043.jpg051.jpg052.jpg046.jpg

The only thing i cant get right is the strawberries. I have not done any research on strawberries (just really havent had time lately). But i do know that there are blooms and there are strawberries but they ripen way to early and they are deformed. I am pretty sure that it isnt strawberry season here in florida. Any ways everything else is growing great take a look!!The pics are all mixed up but you guys get the picture

Just figured i would shoot you guys some more pictures and story telling!! Everything is going perfect. The big boy tomatoes are growing very fast and very tall they are just like a vine. The two tomatoes i have on them are the biggest atm. The two husky cherry tomatoes plants i have are very sturdy plant only growing one stalk and growing very straight. These are going to be heavy producers and one of the prettiest plants that i have seen in my mind. The 2 florida tomatoe plants that i have are both starting to bloom more, but the one has one nice sized tomatoe already on it. My green peppers are blooming like crazy and one of my jalepenos is about to rippen. Well any ways here are the latest most up to date pictures i have. Enjoy and happy growing!!!010.jpg019.jpg008.jpg017.jpg015.jpg014.jpg011.jpg007.jpg

I love gardening. I'm surprised you went with drip lines, giving their tendency to clog up, but if you wanted to make sure they would get watered, without fail, you did good. I wish we'd have some more gardeners on RIU. I'm pulling tomatoes, peppers, and squash every day. I also have red potatoes, onions, cucumbers, and many herbs.... kind of peppers? 6 :) I make my own hot sauce and salsas.

Thanks for checking it out!! I have not noticed any problem with clogging as of yet. My lines sit about a inch off the ground on stakes so that they dont touch the dirt. Also all the water is coming from the resevoir so there is not debris in there to clog it. Any ways i dont think i will ever have a problem with that cause i just dont see how it could happen. Any ways this is my first garden ever and planning on making it much bigger for next year. Any ways stay posted will be putting up updates every few days so you guys can follow me along my first garden rollercoaster ride!!!

I built some raised beds in timber frames with seating along the edges that is working out great. I was able to plant in mid March and am pulling in different stuff every day. My first batch of smoked pepper sauce is now aging. :)

Not far from you.... ;) I could have done late Feb, but I always get burned when i rush like that with an Easter freeze... lol... March was still a risk, but hell, as you know, we had days in the high 70's and 80's all February...

Your cage garden looks awsome. I would love to do one of those if I did a raised bed in my yard.
Yeah man it really was a good investment for me and also it was almost a necessity because of the critters I have living in my area( raccoons, possums, rats, birds, and everything else that lives under the sun or moon). Any ways it was one of the smarter things I have done in my life. Thanks for checking it out and stay tuned for an update sometime this week!!

do you use any fungicides on your tomatoes? ii grow mine outside cage less but i get a lot of browning leaves but cuz of the soil here (kenya) there always vigorous. ad like some green ass plants like those ( am working on a home build green house tho hopefully get some cleaner plants.

No, the only thing I have really had to use was an insectacidal soap. I had a prop em with fungus gnats on my strawberries and I also sprayed all my plants foliage and it seemed to have solved my problem. Other than that no fungicides were used at all.
