2012 results and questions for 2013

Grew 4 Chronic Fruity Juice, 1 White Widow and 1 Blue Widow plants, I'm in North central Oregon and we had an amazing July-October for growing. I yielded 4.5 pounds from 6 plants. I had some posts talking about my thieving high school neighbor kid and now will be forced to move my grow next year.
I have a great place, I have a OMMC so my grow is legal. It's got a 6 foot fence surrounding it and a gate I can lock, it's closer to my house gets full sun all day, but one concern is it's a secondary run for my chickens. They have a roost and a run that is connected, but in the summer I let them into this 40'X40" fenced run. My idea is to keep the plants above ground in containers.I'm thinking about the "smart pot" containers used in masterkush's grow. I'm hoping these will be tall enough to keep the chickens off the plants if they are interested.
Does anyone have experience with growing around chickens? Ideas?

Does the spot have grass? If so the chickens will probably pay the plants no mind.

Yeah..It's not used by the chickens all that much and has a nice thick carpet of grass. There are only 10 chickens, so they don't tear up that big a space too easily.
plus those smart pots look fairly tall.
