Time for some soil prep. This is my first year amending my soil with organic nutrients. Should come out nice. I have had great results with just clay soil and compost in the past. Gonna be using kelloggs patio plus as a base soil mixed with compost, blood meal, and bone meal. Nothing to serious. I will only have to feed with guano teas.

One of my compost piles is about ready but its too late to use it this year. I'll probably just end up tilling it into my veggie garden this fall.
Do you know how to store the compost for later use? Should I just lay a tarp out and pile it up on there? I'd like to free up my bins to start more. I have huge cold compost piles but not sure how long they'll take to be done.

Have you ever considered making compost tea? There is an article on the high times website that promotes the use of compost teas: it's a pretty decent read and worth checking out.

You thought I was playin bout my soil or what?

plain leaf compost made frome left over potting soil, sweet gum leaves/balls, grass trimmings, bone meal, blood meal, mexican bat guano, kitchen fruit and vegetable scraps, used coffee grounds, old cannabis plants and garden plants. All around rich compost. Composted "hot style"; turned every 2-3 weeks since February. Still cooling down:shock:. Got lots of it.

Here is the compost mixed with my cheap base soil at a ratio of 2 parts potting mix to 1 part compost. Mixed in some blood meal and bone mea,l gonna let the soil cook for 3-4 weeks until I plant.

My flower bed plants have eaten up all the compost I mixed in. Started to show N deficiency gonna hit them with some nutrient teas.

Cold compost piles can take anywhere from 1 to 2 years with a good carbon to nitrogen ratio. I like to hot compost. Much faster . More work but the compost breaks down so damn fast I dont know what to do with it lol. Also have cold compost all over the topsoil in my yard that I could rake up and sift. This compost was done naturally when I was on "vacation" for a while and my wife didn't keep up the yard, just letting leaves pile up. When I got out there was a 6 inch thick layer of leaves covering my entire backyard. And now it is going to grow some great pot and veggies lol. Tarps work good for storing compost. In your climate I would also put a tarp over the top so the compost doesn't stay sopping wet and turn yucky.i started buldin a new compost pile already too, threw all the male plants in there haha.
 
@KushXOJ I want to start up a worm bin also when I get the funds. Need some of that black gold handy. Better than buying it for 20 bucks a bag ha. Thanks for droppin in!

Also forgot to update on what I am growing or meds this season

Topped the seahash, seawarp, and stumbelweed plants. Can't afford plants reaching the fenceline.

Here are some bahia blackhead, seahash, seawarp, stumbleweed, 2 Hawaiian Skunk Haze, and one Strawberry Blue Fem. I am going to start transplanting the older seedlings into 1 gallon grow bags pretty soon. The heat is taking a toll on the roots in those small starter pots.

Do you mean from the humidity or rain? I have my hot compost in a barn stall as of right now. The bins get sunlight on them most of the day to keep them warm to help the process a little and I flip the bins every week or two. Rain won't be a problem but if the humidity is then I could keep them in big plastic trash cans with holes drilled for airflow. I'm kind of new to composting and have been winging it. My hot piles are mainly grass clippings, leaves, coffee grounds, egg shells, newspaper, straw, and fruit and veggie peels. I did add a few scoops of screened soil from my garden to get the process jump-started. There are also some worms that were living in there at one point.. not sure if they're still around.
My cold piles are behind my barn. I had a shitload of extra topsoil that I stored back there and decided to mix in grass clippings, leaves, and chopped up branches from pruning trees this spring. I turn it every few weeks or so.
How many males have you ended up with so far? I pulled 3 a few weeks ago but the rest are looking like females so far. I have a feeling that my best and bushiest plant may turn out to be a male. I'll be devastated.. it was one of my bag-seed plants but its already skunky as hell.
I'm hoping to go 100% organic next season.. and hopefully won't have to guerilla grow anymore either! That'd be a change to not have to take a hike at 2am to check up on the plants..not to mention carry all that water in. I'm getting too old for that shit!

My biggest bushiest plant was a male lol. Sucked killing him. I had a high male to female ratio on the bagseeds. I had 22 or 21 plants and now I have 10 im pretty sure 2 more are males lol. I still end up with 8 guaranteed females. I also culled about 4 males from my full season plants hopefully I get a high female count. My SB seedling loves the heat. It is one of my healthiest seedlings next to a Seawarp that likes it. The hawaiin skunk hazes are doing ok. Thin leaf structure very sativa dom. Hopefully they produce well for me. Rain is a problem in compost. It needs to be the consistency of a wrung out sponge. Not too wet but not too dry
 
My SB is bigger and bushier than almost all of the plants that I started a month earlier..lol. She's a bigun. I'm hoping the buds are big and fat too.
I lost one of HSH seedlings the other day. I just started it about 2-3 weeks ago and lost it a few days after transplant. I'm thinking the rain beat it down. The rest of the HSH are looking really good and the stretching has definitely stopped. The rest are fem seeds thank god. As long as they don't hermie on me for some reason I'll have at least 18 females.
The way your plants look, I'm sure they'll produce well for you. They look pretty awesome. I've been trying to get some pics of mine but get noided out during the day. All I need is for someone to follow me in or run into someone out there for some reason. They shouldn't be in those locations but you never know. I got to be careful or I'll end up on "vacation" again. Ha
 
R.I.P. HSH lol. Hopefully you have strong genetics and they don't hermie on ya.
