Dude your garden is killing it right now! Some amazing healthy girls. Im gonna post a weekly update either tomorrow or the next depending on the timing of these thunderstorms/rain. Lots of things going on, some good some bad but mostly good lol.

Its tough to say man. I also have a good amount of chunks and holes and chew spots on every plant but as expected. Unlike spider mites, aphids, gnats, etc. which are pretty easy to link to damage since they make your plant their home, whatever is causing this damage is hard to pinpoint. My weekly IPM program of neem seed meal/insect frass hasnt been as effective as id initially thought. Makes it all the more harder when you cant catch em in the act.
So far what I've seen hanging out in my garden: leaf hoppers of many different sizes and shapes, aphids, stinkbugs, various moths, fireflies (the ones that dont glow) click beetles, a few inchworms, and an earwig earlier today.
Beneficials: Lady bugs (few plants hatched eggs!), spiders making homes in between leaves, the occasional lacewing, long-legged flies
I've always been obsessed with insects my entire life, I love observing and discovering and learning new things about them. Because of the frequency of sightings on all of these, and having the same issues last year, I think its pretty safe to say that the damage is being caused by one or more of whats listed above. I'm trying to be as natural as I can get so im pretty limited on options. The only thing I havent used yet is neem oil which did me well 2018 (indoor with spider mites) and 2019 outdoors all around. General insecticides should do the trick nonetheless for most if not all of these guys.
Personally I dont sweat it too much unless catastrophic damage was imminent. From my experience the new vegetation outgrows the damage by miles and usually isnt an issue as the pests die off later in the season. I havent seen any sort of plant stress caused by the chewing, but then again having open wounds on your plants is never good and could potentially lead to more serious problems.

Thanks man - thank you for your advice , I think your right- it will just re grow. I’m finding a little powder mold , it never ends but it’s a blast. Is it true that a truly organic soil is more prone to all that nasty stuff? Or do you cook it? Curious. I’m happy with everything but the un evenness of the colas. , I think that will come with experience again only my second time doing so it’s a huge learning experience. Did you take any clones this year?

Damn PM, im gonna start foliar spraying greencure every 2 weeks until week 2-3 of flower to try to prevent as much as I can.
I would say no, if you grow healthy plants with healthy immune systems (And obviously genetics play a big part) you already have an upper hand against any fungal/insect issues no matter what medium you grow in. But a lot of these things at least where I am are just inevitable.
I mixed and cooked my soil for 30 something days, filled the pot halfway with SS and stacked 30% plain roots organic soil, 10% plain coco, and 10% pine bark mulch.

6/29 Update
Since last update (1 week) - fed corn sprout tea and foliar sprayed neem seed meal. I had some concerns about the structure of the plants as it seems they initially grew more horizontal than out like the bush shape I was hoping for. But as new shoots are popping up the shape is really starting to come in. Regardless of my concerns, with another 4-6 weeks of veg until transition regardless of if they grow up, down, sideways, these girls are going to be absolute monsters.

The red diesel and pineapple haze are males. I will be culling the pineapple haze and relocating the red diesel to a relatives to harvest pollen for breeding. Down two plants now

Because of the males, I plan to transplant the 24k (transplanted today) and strawberry eclair into larger pots. I also germinated Reserva Privada Sour Diesel that just came up today, because its late in the season I think ill try mainlining/scrogging it in a 17 gallon rectangular tote, and light depping both that and the cali orange sometime in early August.

Strawberry Cough - topped some of the upper main branches, trying to control height and promote horizontal growth as much as possible. Where I supercropped is starting to straighten back up!
629 strawberry cough.jpg

OG#18 - just explosive vertical growth, might end up supercropping everywhere to get the shape im looking for but other than that just tying everything I can down
629OG18.jpg

Matty OG mystery bagseed - what a beauty of a plant. I wish all of them looked like this, uniform bushiness with minimal effort. And she reeks like gassy skunk
629 mog.jpg629MOG tops.jpg

White Widow - explosive growth all around, im really kicking myself in the ass for not being more on top of training earlier as shes already 5+ ft tall
2nd pic is where I supercropped, third pic are "dead zones" that I hope fill in when the secondary shoots come jumping out.
629 white widow.jpg629white widow super corp.jpg629 white widow dead spots.jpg

Critical Orange Punch #1+#2 - once again tying down as many branches as possible to keep the height around where it is now, finally starting to fill out that bush shape
629COP1.jpg629COP2.jpg

Critical Super Silver Haze - she was late to the party but caught up just fine. Bugs seem to love this one more than the others.

Cali Orange - shes doing her thing in the 7gal pot and is way overdue for a good tie down
629cali orange.jpg

24k Gold - Topped again and transplanted from 7gal to 25gal using the same soil stacking method with SS, roots organic, coco and mulch. Shes a stretchy one so Ill be doing all that I can to stop height and get that bush shape.
I had a good amount of left over SS in a garbage can where Ive been dumping my seed sprout and foliar spray leftovers in and its absolutely teaming with life. After taking a closer look there were 100's of these little insects (later identified as rove beetles, they're predatory!), hypoaspis mites, and even worms.
62924k.jpgIMG_3285.jpgIMG_3289.jpg

Strawberry Eclair - Sticking with LST in a spiral fashion, will be transplating into 15gal soon. What an absolute beauty, lush 11 point leaves and smells like straight berries.
629eclair.jpg

Red Diesel and Pineapple Haze - took them long enough to show sex. Going to be a shame to see them go, but it is what it is.
I grew the red diesel last year and she gave me 2/3 seeds along with the cali orange. I was stumped, as the only way to get seeds is through pollination whether that be from hermies or a male - I didnt have either. While walking the dogs last week, I noticed one plant in a neighbors garden, makes me think that he had a male last season and thats how I ended up with the seeds. Will definitely be an interesting breeding project with the red diesel, also my first time dabbling in that world so I am excited.
629red diesel.jpg629 red diesel sacks.jpg629pineapple haze.jpg

Other than the transplanting theres not much else going on. Ill be topping and tying down where needed in order to control vertical height-thats my main priority until they flower. Compost tea coming up on 7/2 and gonna be starting a batch of LABs to feed weekly through flower.

They look fantastic very nice variety. I can tell you’ve been training them - form is gooimage.jpg image.jpgd! I took a clone about 30 days ago and it actually went into the shape of the trained mother plant - it’s crazy. Are you putting plastic up for the next few days? We be getting rain brother.
what are the pot sizes again you are running? I did 1 60 gallon for the fun of it, it’s the pic below - I don’t know if it’s train wreck or jack herer-

I dont take clones for outdoor because I can never seem to time anything right lol. Im definitely cloning the mystery bagseed, strawberry eclair and maybe 1 or two more for mothers. Im going to give grafting a shot since im super limited on space indoors and would like to save the genetics that are worth it. Glad that clone caught up! So far I've only grown one clone outdoor that I got from a friend during my first indoor run, just threw it outside to see what would happen. 100s of caterpillars obliterated the plant later in flowering though lol. That big girl reminds me of the cali orange I grew terminal last year, same size now as when mine was flowering, you're growing redwood trees now ;)

The reason why I want to save the red diesel pollen is because last year I brought some flower along with me on thanksgiving for people to try. Ended up mixing and drinking whatever was in the liquor cabinet, had some of the red diesel right before bed. I was expecting to wake up with the hangover of a lifetime which usually happens but woke up feeling like a million bucks - some absolute magic weed right there :blsmoke:

I also dont plan on covering the plants until flower. Despite what some people might say about the rain I find that the plants love it and are always praying right after a storm. Washes the pollen and other things off the leaves, and I dont have to hand water as frequently. It gets concerning when the temps drop a bit or theres flowers, creates the perfect shit storm for rot and PM. But for now, as long as they have some sort of period to dry off its not a problem for me.

7/6 Update

Lots of new growth this week and most plants are starting to get the shape and structure im looking for. Fed compost tea on the 1st, and corn + alfalfa earlier today. I try to go in and tie down anywhere I can daily (and top where necessary) and just started to clean up the bottom inside growth.

Strawberry Cough - The problem child of the garden lol. When I first topped along with the rest of the plants, one top just completely over powered the other, and the other which not only is slow to grow is also producing tissue paper like vegetation. Along with that, some of the new colas are drooping at the nodes under the top here and there. Very strange and im assuming is from genetic/hormonal issues. Other than that shes popping off like the rest!
7 6 SC.jpg

OG #18 - Trying my best to keep her branching out to get bushy. The shoots are very tall and lanky with long internodes. I dont think shes going to yield anywhere close to some of the other plants but it'll be some fire for sure
7 6 OG18.jpg

Matty OG mystery bagseed - This one just continues to amaze me every day with beautiful explosive canopy growth. Definitely the garden MVP this season, cant wait to see the buds she produces
7 6 MOG.jpg7 6 MOG tops.jpg

Critical Super Silver Haze - Planted this one late but she was definitely ready to party. Should see a ton more growth this month
7 6 CSSH.jpg

Critical Orange Punch x2 - Some of the last few to start growing into the shape im trying to go for, but other than that they're doing amazing
7 6 COPx2.jpg

White Widow - Burried the 30g pot 3/4 of the way into the ground just because of how tall she was getting. Lots of gaps here and there but she'll come into her shape soon
7 6 WW.jpg

24k Gold - Transplanted into 25g pot from 7g, starting to shape up real well, and getting tall
7 6 24k.jpg

Cali Orange - Transplanted into 15g from 7g, doing her thing
7 6 Cali O.jpg

Strawberry Eclair - Transplanted into 15g from 7g, LST only. This is a special one for sure, stem rub smells like berries
7 6 Strawberry Eclair.jpg

Will continue to tie down and clean up where I can every day. Got a batch of LABs going that will be ready in a few weeks. Continuing to spray NSM and insect frass, adding in safer brand caterpillar killer this week since Ive been seeing a few here and there. RP Sour Diesel will be added to the garden as soon as shes ready to top to start mainlining. July will be a dope month!

For anybody thats interested in the nature/critter aspect, heres a few guest I was lucky enough to see recently

Not sure what that is in the first pic but definitely cool. Some sort of bumblebee mimic fly, and a mydas fly that I saw last year almost every day I was out there in July (not sure if its the same one though).

Thanks man, I’m happy so far. I’m starting to see the first signs of early flowering, I’m not sure why it’s so early but I will take it. Have you ever used D.E as a top dressing to kill bugs? I’m fighting bugs right now and I didn’t know if you had any experience with it.

Never used DE, but I know its a great product. I dont really have any issues with soil pests but if I did I would certainly get my hands on some DE. Leaf hoppers are going crazy and im finding caterpillars webbing themselves between the leaves of new tops, so time to make some additions to the IPM program lol

7/14 Update
Plants are really starting to shape up and im getting excited for transition. A lot of great growth this past week.
Since last update, top dressed everything with 1/2 cup of kelp meal, neem seed meal, and a few handfuls of malted barley powder. Also threw in a handful of "leftovers" from the last SST and compost tea. Fed corn SST earlier today. The caterpillar war starts early this season for me, been seeing them on just about every plant web up between the leaves of new tops before they can open up and devastating them. Started spraying BT and will be up until week 2-3 of flower and im already finding a few dying off which is fantastic.
Also finally got the outer cages on the rest of the girls.

Strawberry Cough - Been absolutely blowing up this past week, shes gonna be a monster
714 SC.jpg

OG#18 - Slacked for a bit on the training due to being the last plant to get 2nd caging. Really got in there earlier and laid the tops out/supercropped here and there. 1st pic is before and 2nd after. I was under the impression that OGs usually grow shorter and max out around 5 feet but this is definitely not the case with this one lol. Without topping she would definitely be around the 6 ft mark by now
714 OG before.jpg714 OG.jpg

Matty OG mystery bagseed - the 2020 MVP right here. Absolutely reeks - sorry neighbors . Lots of pest damage compared to some of the others but she should be fine.
714 MOG.jpg714 MOG tops.jpg

Critical Super Silver Haze - Starting to look exactly like last years Critical + 2.0. I believe she should be the first flowering plant starting in about 2 weeks or so.
714 CSSH.jpg

Critical Orange Punch x2 - Probably the lowest performers in the garden. Not really filling in like the rest is but hopefully that'll turn around before transition
714 COPx2.jpg

24K - Lots of explosive growth, cant wait to see how she turns out
714 24k.jpg

White Widow - Was getting really really tall even after burying the pot in the ground. Laid out all the tops, shes starting to look great.
714 WW.jpg

Cali Orange - Not really planning on putting that much more work into her.
714 cali orange.jpg

Strawberry Eclair - On G13s site, one of the phenos they mention is a short plant that smells like strawberry/cookies and I think thats exactly what I've got going on here. Wont be a huge yielder but will definitely be some quality smoke
714 SE.jpg

Top dressing NSM+kelp meal and a mix of compost/worm castings from last compost tea and the left over corn/barley sprouts from the last SST, figured id experiment with it.
IMG_3380.jpgIMG_3379.jpg

Fan leaf from the weird strawberry cough mutation after topping. Its very thin and feels like tissue paper
