I can see why Mitch might be worried about the senate, an independent run backed by this guy will cut into the republicans deeply in Missouri, or even win, or it could even allow a democrat to win.

Strangely he never mentioned Trump or the insurrection.

Cheney should run as an independent too, if she loses the GOP nomination, financing would not be an issue.

i've believed that it's a good idea to know your enemies better than they know themselves for a long time...you cannot ever form an effective defense unless you have at least a basic understanding of your enemy, and you sure as shit can't be as effective as possible offensively without that understanding

Because of gerrymandering and vote rigging the democrats will need a 7 to 10 point advantage in the polling to break even, assuming the ballots aren't counted and the elections run by Trump lunatics and fascists.

Poll: Voters split on party preference for midterm elections
2,770 views Jul 19, 2022 Neither Republican nor Democratic candidates for Congress are seen by most voters as having the right priorities, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS. The survey finds voters closely divided in their preference for this year's midterm elections and on the potential consequences of a Republican victory.

There was not a shift toward Republicans among Hispanic voters between 2016 and 2020. Not a trend line.

An analyst in that vid said Republicans are "reaching out" toward Hispanic voters but didn't say what that was. I have no idea what that meant. California is a better gauge than polls. Basically, Republicans have no chance there BECAUSE Republicans are so radically bigoted against Hispanic people. That hasn't changed one bit nationally either.

JS I don't believe what that report said.

and yet my congressman is that minority speaker guy. Every Friday night I perform a ritual dedicated to that man’s being caught hip-deep in the insurrection and put away for life. And I’m running out of cats.

There is more to the picture than race demographics, older white voters are dying off and being replaced by younger ones who have less racist conditioning. TV and the internet are having a bigger impact than local culture and family in many cases these days. I believe the GOP destroyed their brand among many younger Americans, but the democrats need to get control of the congress so they can do something for working people.

Democrats Look Surprisingly Strong Heading Into Midterm elections
9,682 views Jul 24, 2022 Even though President Biden's approval numbers are underwater, polls asking who voters will choose in their local congressional races show Democrats basically even with Republicans -- or in some cases, even ahead. Which is surprisingly good news for Democrats ahead of the midterms.

in recent elections "only one time has the president's party not lost seats during the mid term"...yeah, but all those other elections, the republicans and their hand picked supreme court hadn't just stolen the rights of every woman in the country that doesn't dream of being an extra in the "handmaid's tale"...they also weren't talking about making gay marriage illegal, and banning contraceptives...
also, the leader of their party hadn't had several public hearings showcasing his criminal intent, his personal vindictiveness, and his cowardice...
that's the one good thing about republicans, you can always trust them to go way the fuck too far, way the fuck too fast, and lose what little support they ever have, beyond the magat base.

I think taking the house and senate in 2022 with useful majority is the top priority and they will use Trump anyway they can to do it. Nobody has total control over this, but the experts say Georgia will have the first indictments against Trump, when is anybody's guess. However he doesn't need to be indicted to be spooked enough to run his rallies with the big lie and all about Donald. He will need control over the GOP and they are all going to be asked if they support the big lie during the election and they are going to be asked if they would vote for Trump, if he is the 2024 nominee. After the 2022 election Donald will be swiftly dealt with, indict him before the election and they run the risk of the judge muzzling him. Dividing the republicans is your best bet and Donald does that naturally, but now he really needs to drive an agenda and the big lie. Mitch is saddled with a bunch of loser candidates for senate thanks to Trump and if the democrats win a usable majority he could have a few more in deep shit. Lindsey could go to prison, Holly, Cruz and others are implicated in the J6 plot and an independent special counsel will look into it. You wanna see Josh squirm, appoint Frankenstein as independent special counsel after the election. There are over a hundred house members who voted for delay after the riot and were in on the conspiracy, Even retiring Chuck Grassley was gonna do Trump's bidding counting the votes, while Pence swung on the Capitol lawn.

Donald still has valuable work to do and the J6 panel appear to be spooking him. Donald is predictable and that means he can be played like a fish and I figure that is what is happening with the delays in justice. Crunch time comes closer to the election and most likely in Georgia first.

Kinzinger says it’s ‘disgusting’ for Democratic groups to back GOP election deniers in hopes of general election wins
Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) on Tuesday said it is “disgusting” for Democratic groups to support election-denier candidates during Republican primaries in hopes of winning general elections.

Democratic groups in recent weeks have bought advertisements backing pro-Trump candidates running in Republican primaries across the country, with the idea being that Democrats will have an easier time beating the far-right Republicans in the general election.

Groups have taken out ads for Trump-supported candidates in Arizona, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Michigan, according to Axios.

Kinzinger — one of two Republicans sitting on the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, which took place because of election denial — said Democrats propping up election-denying candidates “don’t understand the real threat” at hand.

“I think it’s disgusting,” Kinzinger told CNN when asked about his thoughts on Democrats backing pro-Trump candidates.

“You’re gonna have election deniers win. So while I think a certain number of Democrats truly understand that democracy is threatened, don’t come to me after having spent money supporting an election denier in a primary, and then come to me and say, ‘where are all the good Republicans,’ you’re worried about democracy,” he said.

“I truly believe that all these issues we argue about, they matter. But the thing that matters the most right now is the threat to our democracy. It’s the thing our kids will judge us by and when we’re sitting here playing DCCC, you know, DNC politics, let’s promote the crazy, and then that person wins, you don’t understand the real threat. I’m sorry, you don’t understand the threat to democracy,” he added, referring to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) and the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

The DCCC recently took out an ad in Michigan that painted Republican John Gibbs as a candidate fully aligned with former President Trump, using information from his Twitter account and campaign website. It touts information that a pro-Trump candidate would want to highlight, despite saying “the Gibbs-Trump agenda is too conservative for West Michigan.”

The ex-president has endorsed Gibbs, who is running against Rep. Peter Meijer (R-Mich.), a first-term congressman who voted to impeach Trump following the Capitol riot.

Kinzinger pointed to the DCCC’s involvement in the GOP primary on behalf of Gibbs, in addition to Democrats propping up Republican gubernatorial candidates Doug Mastriano in Pennsylvania and Darren Bailey in Illinois.

Asked on Tuesday if the DCCC is doing anything to help GOP candidates that Democrats view as easier to beat in the general election, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-N.Y.), the chairman of the DCCC, told MSNBC, “I think you might see us do that, sure.”

He noted, however, that the group has “a high bar for that,” adding, “I think if you’re gonna do that, you need to really understand what you’re doing.”

“If you’re talking about trying to pick your opponent, you might see us do that, sure. And I think sometimes it does make sense. And largely what you’re doing is telling voters of fact that if they’re aware of, it’s important to them. I think you might see us do that, sure,” he said.

Kinzinger seems like a pretty decent guy, all things considered, but in this, i have to say, fuck him.
the republicans have been cheating their fucking asses off for decades, while the democrats have been playing fair and paying for it.
if the democrats want a little pay back that is entirely legal and within the letter of the law, then fuck any hypocrite that doesn't like it.
if the republicans quit fucking cheating and played fair from this day forward, the democrats would be justified in cheating them for the next ten years.

I think that hill article is just more of their typical bullshit. "Democrats" can mean literally anything and anyone anymore, and this is the first I have seen one of these actually name the DCCC in one of the ads, and it is attacking the full MAGA nut. I can't see the AXIOS page, but I would just remind people that Tulsi Gabbard was a Democrat (Manchurian candidate, but still).

This looks like some left troll shit IMO, but I only ever seen the vague claim that 'Democrats' are selling the nuts in the Republican party without a drill down on who they are enough to know that it is not just more bullshit clickbait.
