If you are planning to do something that you know is highly illegal it is a good idea to review the state structured sentencing guidelines beforehand. Then weigh the risk verses reward. Plus shipping a smelly illegal substance on a bus? I really can't think of a worse way to transport marijuana. Did she want to get caught?

My buddies Mom got busted in Bose Idaho with 37pounds of weed she was on greyhound. She was coming from ca. To Minn. Someone on the bus said they smelled pot so they diverted the bus to Idaho . The bus was never supposed to go to Idaho. Now she is facing 22yrs that is a life sentence for her .what do u think
I think your buddys mom is a dumb broad, bringing almost 40 LBs on a bus....cant afford a damn uhaul?...this cant be real, if it is she should be on world dumbest criminals "mule edition"

Whats her ethnicity?, I don't see a white woman getting 20+ yrs.

A basic tenet of business........you have to SPEND money to MAKE money. I'm sorry to hear this woman faces 20+ years, but goddam, seal your weed properly, rent a car, and obey ALL traffic laws. Even then, something out of your control could happen. The stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me. As my father used to tell me, "You've got a brain, USE IT"

How has no one mentioned the fact that 37 lbs is little bigger than a small child.... where the fuck did she put all this weight??? The numbers arent working out area wise so either she had 2 body sized duffel bags or this is total bull shit.

If you can afford 37 pounds of weed you can afford a car to transport it in even if just a rental. Similar sentencing around my part of the country. A brother and sister decided to fight their charges of growing 10-15 plants and having 4 lbs in an airlock bag. He got 22 years and she got 15 years. If they would have taken the plea deal, it would have been 6 mo - 2 years in jail + probation for 5 years.

Damn, if youve got 37 pounds to sell why not rent a fucking car?? Its like $150 bucks for a week.

Then sentence is crazy but thats what you get when you put yourself in a position to let the legal system to decide your fate!!!

Sure, one day is too much in my opinion, but that doesn't change the fact that marijuana is highly illegal in several states between CA and MN including MN. I was just saying it's as if this wanna be ganga smuggler was begging to get caught. I mean, 37 lbs on a greyhound bus - you have got to be kidding.. Sorry for your friends mom, but she really exercised poor judgement.
Greyhounds are used often for this. Most people are not caught. Clearly her packaging was bad.

I just saw UB's post above. Didn't realize they had this policy. Probably new as when I was much younger it was a common method of transport. Welcome fascist police state.

Anyway she should ask for a Jury trial and try to push nullification.

Even if it means that she runs the risk of contempt. The sentence for contempt is a fuck tonne less than it is for this.

The only possession limits, if any, should be this: if you can carry it, you can carry it. If it's more than you can physically carry, that's too much!

Most manual labor jobs require the ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds. Any able bodied human should be allowed to possess as much cannabis as they can physically lift and carry for at least 3 steps, in a controlled and non-staggering or struggling manner.

And exceeding this, there should be no violence or abduction or forcible confinement imposed. Either seize the excess of what can be lifted, or allow the possessor to nominate a willing assistant, on the spot, to aid them in carrying the material to its intended destination.

Cannabis prohibition is tyranny and terrorism.

And really, with the system being imposed as it is... who could possibly NOT have contempt for the courts? And especially the so-called "honorable" judges, who are anything but.

Still, since Colorado gives me the option to get a red card and carry large amounts, I certainly took the step to gain the additional layer of legal protection from police abuse.

At some point, We the People will get tired of having our civil rights abused by police with no real recourse- and someone will take the next logical step of depriving police officers of THEIR civil rights, as retaliation. THAT'S what anarchy will look like. That's what police departments fear and yet are doing exactly the wrong thing in response by loading up on military hardware.
