Around day 15, I switched 2 6500K CFLs to 2700K CFLS to try to ease the plant into flowering. I plan to let it veg for another month. Day 18 shows the SCROG in place. I'll take some more photos of the whole setup next time. I haven't watered with nutrients yet and I'm not sure if I should start soon or even at all. A lot of people have said that using only water has been sufficient enough. It's my first proper grow so I'll probably just take it easy and if there seems to be any deficiencies, I'll try watering with nutes. Also, I am going to top the plant either tomorrow or the next day. What do you guys think?

I watered them with plain water this morning with a ph adjustment to around 6.5.

Some new photos:

My setup is now 8 x 23W 6500K CFLs and 4 x 23W 2700K CFLs. I have two small fans (left) blowing across the lights and the plant to cool things down a bit. My intake is passive and up the top right of the photos. My outtake is controlled by a 3 speed fan that sucks out through the square cut-out in the bottom left. Temperatures sit around 27 C - 80 F and the humidity is around 40. Am I doing the SCROG right? I think it's at about the right height but I can't tell. It's about 15cm above the soil level. And I'm kinda scared to top it because I can't really tell where to cut...any tips?

Yeah scrog looks good so far.. Once it grows up through say 4 inches them feed it through the next square and dont worry about kinking them..
Anyway am subbed and good luck !

Update:

Watered the plant this morning with plain water adjusted to 6.5. The top where I cut started turning black but that turned out fine and was just the plant's way of healing.

Below are some photos of the plant in the screen. I think I've got enough room to handle the plant from below during flowering. Can you see any problems I might have with the setup I've got. The lights can all be raised to the height of the top lights in the third photo and the plant can be lowered another inch if need be.

Other than that, everything is going and growing really well.

Quick update:

Watered this morning with pure water. Plenty of budsites have started appearing (around 8 total) and I've just started to guide the two top shoots through the screen. I might start flowering a bit earlier than planned but probably another week of veg. Overall, she looks pretty healthy.

Update: I've water twice with pure water and I have switched to flowering. I didn't want it to grow too big for my screen. There are approximately 7 budsites above the screen and 2 still below. 12/12 with 10 2700K CFLs and 4 6500K CFLs. I'll replace the 4 6500Ks in a few days.

Looking great! What's the sativa/indica ratio for that strain? I'm doing a similar scrog with a 90% sativa, and switched to 12/12 when it was about the same size as yours. It easily filled my screen. Right now i have about 300w of cfls, so we're doing very similar things, man.

nice man, your grow's looking sweet! it's a really dense and even canopy. how many days did you veg for? this strain is the opposite - 90% indica so I'm pretty keen to see the difference in growth hey. cheers ringsixty

I switched to 12/12 after 25 days of vegging (a couple weeks 24/0, a week 20/4, then a few days 18/6), when my plant was this size:

I had fimmed it after the 3rd node, then taken the bottom 2 branches as clones, which is why it's so branchy-looking there.

Cheers!

Ourkansaw, I'm surprised at how much bigger yours got. Do you think that fimming it made a big difference?

The plant has stretched a little bit but not as much as I expected in the first week. Some new budsites have formed and are pushing up from below the canopy. Some of my leaves have started dying from the bottom up but I think that's normal. They're mostly useless anyway (not receiving any light) so I just chop them off and feed them to the guinea pig which seems to like them. It's drinking a lot of water so I've watered three times over the past 6 days.

Here's a couple photos over the past week or so...

I think the sativa / indica difference accounts for much of the differences in growth rate. Be careful with that watering, it'll grow faster if you let it get real thirsty between waterings. I water about once every 10 days right now, just a real heavy soaking when I do water.

I'll try watering it less and see how it goes, but the soil does seem to dry out down to about a whole middle finger length after about 4 days. The screen is starting to fill out a bit more, the camera from above doesn't even fit everything in anymore and some flowers are definitely starting to emerge. The leaves below are looking sicker and I'm not sure what's going on, probably some kind of nutrient deficiency but there's not much I can do because of the controlled slow release fertilizer in the soil. There are a couple of photos of two of the sickest leaves that I cut off. Other than that, the top looks great, really green and healthy looking.

Those upper leaves look waterlogged to me, so I'd say let it go almost a week without watering, you won't regret it.

What size is your screen? Also, Try throwing a 10.0 uvb reptile bulb into the mix since cfls don't produce any.
