24-0 vs 18-6

dude i hadlike 18 cfls when we started this grow business a couple months ago and we concentrated and using less electricity, turning lights off when not in the room, keeping tv/cable box off when not watching, and the light bill WENT DOWN. cfls barely use anything. and that was with them on 24 hours a day

Just curious, I can't seem to figure out why 24-0 would be better than 18-6 in my mind. I mean I understand consistent temps, but does it grow faster (1.3x faster)? Because if I am waiting the same amount of time (lets say 30 days) to switch from veg to flower, that would be the difference between 720 hours and 540 hours. Electric bill difference favoring the 18-6. So, someone help me:!:
Plants have photo-cells, thats how they can tell when to Veg and when to Flower.
Plants use these photo-cells as a clock. This helps
the plant know when it's mature. I've also read that a 18/6 photo cycle
might have increased potency compared to 24/0. Just what I read There might be some truth to that.
"sometimes" when plants go from 24/0 to 12/12 they get shocked.
they think that they aren't going to get a chance to reproduce so
they Hermie.
24/0 has it's good points, and bad points
18/6 has it's good points, and bad points
I try to do a combination of both
2-3 weeks of 24/0 -- Seed- Clone
2-3 weeks of 18/6
1 week to go from 18/6 to 12/12
12/12 till harvest.

Thats why I like clones there the same age as the mother plant
they have maturity.

I use 24/0 for cloning and growing my mothers. For vegging I use 18/6,and of course 12/12 for flowering. It all works fine.

ive done both i personaly prefer the 18 and 6, u can see the roots explod after 6 hr of darkness, they love the dark, your righ tho the plant def slows down growingfor sure, but i disagree about flowering faster, i plant that is on 24 hrs may think is june or july cus of the massivly long light cycle, sowhne i switches to 12 and 12, sometimes plants cant even tell for a week or two that its time to switch, but in 18 and 6 that dark period matures them that much more into thinking its almost time to flower, only my opinion tho

I guess the only thing we can deduce from this is that you'll get two sides of the story. Those that think that vegging with either 24/0 or 18/6 has its advantages, and those that think the advantages were not noticeable.

I think there are a couple of factors to consider before determining which is the best option for your grow, with cost of operation and room temp/humidity on top of the list.

maybe certain strains just grow like mad under 24/0 and others it doesn't matter.. it grows the same no matter how much light.. i dunno, but genetics really is what i think alot of things come down to that we aren't even factoring it in. we are trying for 'quick general solutions' and if your trying to be a perfectionist about it, your going to have to talk strain too, just like space/time is intertwined so is strain/environment in my opinion. ;)

what about 2 weeks 24/0 THEN 2-4 weeks 18/6 and then the ol 12/12? i just do the 24/0 now for the extra heat ITS COLD

Oh bigger roots would be nice!
