24 Hours of dark?

Hi guys!

So I've been trying hard the last month and a half to learn everything I can about growing (love this site, and there is alot of shit to learn!)


I just have one plant, (one died) its extremely healthy! I want to know if its female so that I can start the cloning process. A friend that used to grow told me to put the plant in complete dark for 24 hours to make the plant to show its sex. Currently its getting 18/6 from a 1000w MH.

Any opinions on whether this works or not? Will it be really bad for the plant?

i would, sometimes if u dont it can take up to 14 days to show sex

Has anyone else tryed this. Cause I have 2 plants that I want to know the sexs of so I can know if I have a female or not.

only way i no to get the sex early is to take a clone and put it on a 12/12 as soon as it roots .with a 1000 watt mh the clones should root in 4 to 5 days then maybe a week to show sex on a 12/12
