24hr-48hr of darkness

Has there been any proof by putting your plants in complete darkness for an amount of time that would significantly improve the overall quality of your bud and/or increase the resin production?

never really read anything regarding how to grow, I do my own thing and learn from my own mistakes but people keep talking about leaving my plants in the dark like it actually does anything so I figured I would ask.
best way to prove it is with a trail with a few grow normal to harvest and some in dark before harvest i guess.
unless someone can actually provide a pics of the same plant with and without the darkness

Ive had it dripping on my shoes from 24 hours of darkness. Then let it dry for 7 days.

I used to do this, I quit cause I had a lil bit of bud rot and I realized I might not have had it if hadn't waited to chop.

I don't know if there is any difference for sure one way or the other, but if so it wasn't that noticeable.

Edit: I dim at the end of flower and run AC pretty cool so I think it might have the same kind of effect
