250W DWC, Berry Bomb SCROG - 1st Grow

Hi all, i've reading the forums for a while and finally decided to start my own grow!

I've assisted a friend in 2 previous grows so i have a little bit of knowledge already, and spent a fair bit of time gathering info of the forums/net so thought i'd do a journal for my first grow

I'm using the Lucas formula (micro-bloom) and Dutch Master Zone, that's it for nutrients i think - keeping things simple.

I decided to go with the DWC setup and SCROG, just to try and get a decent yield from my limited space and lighting. I started from seed and originally decided to grow White Widow x Big Bud (WW x BB) but after reading up a bit more after ordering seeds (doh) it seems quite a few people have had this strain go hermie on them so I decided to try Big Bang and Berry Bomb. As I already purchased WWxBB seeds I thought i'd give germinating a go just so I have an idea if I'm doing it right when it comes round to the BerryBomb/BigBang.


Setup:
Grow tent - 60x60x140
Light -250W HPS
Res - 5Gal Bucket
Extractor fan - 187 m3/hour
11CM Carbon Filter
4" Air Stone + Air pump
RO Filter/Water!

Germination
I soaked the first WWxBB Seed in 5.8ph RO water for 24hours, then placed that into a rockwool cube (soaked in PH'd RO for 12hours also) and a few days later it had sprouted, sweet! I then repeated the process for my Berry Bomb + Big bang, but only the Berry Bomb sprouted.


I started the grow in a little DIY system, I used a 2L Paint container and gave it a good clean with diluted bleach + covered it in black tape to stop any light leaks.
Transferred the Berry Bomb to the 5Gal bucket today.

Berry Bomb Sprouted Thursday (06/03/14) and seems to be doing okay 4days in, roots seem to be doing okay too

Found the res temps in the small container to skyrocket because of the black tape around it, so I used some paper to reduce the heat a bit (and stop light leaks), helped quite a lot.

If anyone has any questions/suggestions please feel free as I'm open to Ideas to improve on this grow!

Smallest is the Berry Bomb at 4days + that's the root through the bottom of the 110mm Netpot.
And the WWxBB at 11Days from sprouting, followed by my whole setup!

I started a white lemon around the same time as your berry bomb in a 3.6 gal air pot... Is she an auto or photoperiod?

Nice, how's that going at the moment?

Photoperiod.. hoping to veg for around 4 weeks total. Is yours auto?

Update: Res temps reaching 83F
Wrapped + covered the bucket in Aluminium bubble wrap seemed to have helped temps a lot, staying around 70-73F now.

Any idea when I should start feeding with weak strength nutes? say 20%?

Added 20% Nutes.
3Gal RO water (28ppm)
3ml Micro
6ml Bloom
3ml DM Zone (Full Strength)

Total PPM: 339

So roughly 310ppm not including water.

Had some heat issues so took the Carbon Filter off as i don't need it yet.
Res Temps: 66F
Room Temps: 81F
PH: 5.9
PPM: 310

Did notice the tiniest bit of white-ish slime on the tube to the airstone, think this was due to high
res temps earlier on in the week, so gave the res a good scrub with watered down bleach and
rinsed it out after to make sure it was clean!

Update Day 13: Getting There!

was a slight bit of nute burn starting to happen so lowered the ppm's a bit

Very nice start for your first dwc i am also on my first ever dwc run and so far so good mine look just the same as yours at this point a few days behind you though @ 8 days from sprout running 5 gallon w/ jungle juice 3 part nutrients and vegging under t5 set up for now so hot here in norcal at the time may run t5 all through veg as i did with my soil grow got kind of fond of the light with veg's really well..Keep up the good work i'll be watching..

I am also doing the exact same set up except with a 400W HID. How did yours turn out?
