I am looking into getting a 250w hps light to flower my plant and was curios how much circulation i would need in a room that is 6ftx8ftx7ft. I dont know if i can vent to the outside will i need a vent or will it run fine

that size room might be too big for just a 250 watt i have a 400 watt in a room 3ft w x 4ft L x 4 ft tall and it is working great if you can vent out side that would be great but try to condense your light to a smaller section of that room and you will get tighter buds. as far as venting its all trial and error i use a few pc fans one blowing in and one sucking out. also a small muffin fan 4" inside blowing over the top of plants keeps them from burning. this helped for a long time but now that temps outside are getting hotter i'm gonna have to try some new things. just some ideas but experiment and let us know.

well that is the size of my room in total but i am only growing in a 3x3 grow table so i know that it will be enough for what i have 3x3 direct light and 4x4 secondary for 250w yeah?

i had a heat for a while but the 2 fans (in & out) helped alot just try to vent it away from the roomso it does'nt keep recycling the same air. i bring the air in froma bulkhead in my basement and vent out a dryer tube so im keeping most of the heat away from the room. just try to move some air and you should be all set let us know how you do.

your 250 will get hot but no too hot, if you can at least put a fan or two blowing on it and maybe keep your door open when you can you should probably be alright unless its already super hot in your house then it may be a problem.

i live in the uk man its fuckin pissing down and freezing all the time, i got my windows wide open to, yeh i got nothing that the ballast or bulb can catch fire to, i just don't wanna come home and my house is burnt to the ground, get me.

Does the HPS unit have a remote ballast? if so I would think that you will have less heat than the total 320 watts of CFL light. HPS is more efficient than CFL, but youll probably be getting alot more actual lumens too. I can't be sure on this, but HPS is certainly better than CFL alone. You WILL have better results. Use a fan, if only to keep the stems strong and provide needed ir circulation for the plants to aspirate.

this is it man, light on top. it looks like it connects to a bracket, this is an industrial light i think, it ain't remote ballast i dont think

You can take the big heavy iron cored transformer and silver can ( thats a capacitor) and move it away from the light socket, just put new 220V rated wire that is longer from the ballast ( transformer/capacitor) to the the socket , the socket can then be placed into the grow box. You won't need to solder anything or even need any electrical knowledge. If you can cut a wire, strip off the insulation and then take a wire nut and attach the longer wire you can do this. this will minimize heat. If you don't feel comfortable doing this ( Its actually quite easy) then you will have to let it all sit in the box.

your room is huge. i dont really think you need to work much about heat. just keep a couple small fans blowing on top of the plants and youll be fine. i have a 250 in a 4x2x5 closet with exhaust and the temps are fine. i do have exhaust but my area is a fraction of yours

i have was using a bathroom fan with carbon filter. thing was pretty janky though and i am getting a 400 watt now so i upgraded and bought a 4" w/filter fan from htg. With your room have a big fan somewhere in the room to keep the air circulating along with one shooting over the plants

but if its locked in the cupboard won't it just be circulating hot air? i'm not gonna go out and buy some sick fan, i'm pretty poor.

I just finnished a scrog under a 250hps in a room about the same size. The scrog was also about the same size. 2.5x3 feet. I had 2 oscolating fans but the room oes warm up. My room is in the back of the house so I can open the door a crack, I also have central air conditioning so that helped cool the room.

I would suggest running it for a day or 2 and see what gives?

my room is at the back of the house, and my room is massive so there'll be plenty of circulation, but i dont want no normys seein my babies, so i dont know how i'm gonna go about this, yeh i might run it for a while see what the outcome is, the odd's of it catching fire have gotta be slim right?
