250w MH dim light +rep

i have an enclosed ballast mini 250 watt mh/hps fixture that i had a 250 watt hps light in. i recently swapped it out for a 250 watt MH for a mother and i dont know if its just me but the light seems really dim compared to the hps... i think something is wrong. can someone please help me +rep

its just the spectrum,just do a stare contesty thing and look in to one light for an x amout of time and then look into the other,u will see a difference.repeat the experiment and u will see your eyes are really decieving u.plust the hps has a brighter output with tons of lumens compared to the mh. dont worry its all good,nothing wrong,but if ur still worried then check your ballast and replace old parts with new ones.

and MH give off a lot less heat than HPS too right?

If you have any number of months on the bulbs you probably need a new one. They loose intensity, a lot.

I won't use one beyond 6mo ordinarily, can be 75% of original at that point maybe less I don't recall the specific numbers.
