2nd DWC Grow Prep A little Input needed.

Hey everyone I am gearing up for my 2nd grow and I decided that I would ask for pointers and advice before hand so I can maximize my results.
Last go around I ran 400w single mh/hps with advanced nutrients micro grow and bloom in RO water with h202 to maintain roots as needed and that's about it. This time I am looking into the floraduo nutes and since I cant really find a solid review on here I wanted to find Y'alls opinion them as well as what other additives I have been missing out on suck as liquid karma cal-mag and so forth.

Also, this time i am planing on using a scrog so my method of switching buckets to clean them out isn't going to work well so , do any of you guys have any tips on installing drains to your buckets?

Ok last two questions.
My tap water comes out to be about 190ppm before filtering im thinking about setting up a 5 micron filter to it and use that as my water source rather than lugging in two 5 gal RO bottles. Would you recommend that or just stick with the RO.

Lastly Any opinions on a strong strain with good yield i used barneys farm critical kush last time which worked out pretty well.

Thank you so much for any help that you might be able to offer.:weed:

first off i dont see the point in using RO water...if you use RO water you have to just put micro nutrients back into the water (trace minerals) i guess it all depends on what that 190 ppm consists of...

as long as you keep the water in the bucket cool and blocked from light theres no need to chanbge it. yes it is widly accepted that you SHOULD change it but you dont NEED to.

if you want fresh water just go with RDWC so that your constantly getting new water cycled through....

as far as your nutes go i have no clue...if they are really expensive i would say your paying way too much....cheap nutes can be just as good as high end expensive ones...just have to do your homeqork

Look into myco's/ beneficial bacteria, be prepared for slime... Be preventative of slime..keep hiesenbergs 'tea' thread handy.. You didn't mention ph? Keep it at 5'8/5'9 ....save your money, use tomato nutes, read lucas formula and modify to suit...

First off, R/O water allows for more stable pH. Unstable pH leads to adding pH up/down and affects PPM
with relatively useless chemicals being added that don't benefit growth.

As far as nutes go, GH Micro/Bloom + CalMg can do you just fine, and is very simple. You can go LUCAS,
and even calculate addbacks so you never really need to dump a res.

Beneficial bacteria is really not needed, unless you can't keep water temps down. Even then H2O2/Bleach (chlorine/chloramines @ 6 DROPS/gal)
is much easier to use. H2O2 will add oxygen to the root zone, but it breaks down in ~3-4 days. I personally prefer sterile res in DWC.

pH can easily go lower than 5.8 (LUCAS in R/O @ 8/16 generally puts pH @ ~5.2) although 5.8 is the general suggestion. I like 6.2-6.3 in
flower, as the plants tend to drink more than they eat, and pH can drop. Also, phosphorous is better absorbed @6.2-6.3 and is important
in flower production.

Your best bet for draining a big tub of water is to go to Lowes and guy a 150gph pond pump in the gardening section, maybe $20 at the most. Get some tubing and when you want to drain your res just plug in the pump and drop into the water. It will drain almost everything out and no work is required.

190 PPM is wayyy to high to start with. Everything depends on that water being clean and suitable for your plants. Instead of using tap water of Ro water or installing a expensive filter go to your local wal mart, grocery store, and there will be some kind of water dispenser where you can fill 5 gal jugs for 1.50!!!!! you can buy as many jugs as you want and the water is filtered through reverse osmosis and comes out at about 7-10ppm, almost perfect. Very cost effective and the best way to maintain a good ph level and no adjusting your tds meter.

Get a pond pump for change outs.
Use DM zone to keep root rot in check. There is three different ways to use zone.goggle it good reviews
Use the GH micro grow and bloom and calmagic with RO water.watch some of hydrohybrid on u tude he explains the use and the amount to use it during veg and flower in ppms.
