Some growers keep defoliating/pruning right until they harvest. So no issue there, if you want to clean them up a little, go right ahead.

I usually prune my plants pretty hard in veg then again 3 weeks into flower, once stretch is complete, my reasons are always the same, creating better air flow and opening up spots for light penetration.

Same here!.. 3 weeks in, and we did a heavy defol today, and will hit it again tomorrow, then let them recover for a week or so, and check it again.

I defol slowly throughout the entire flowering cycle up until harvest. At least once or twice a week I may pick a leave off here, a new larf bud site there, maybe a couple lower yellowing old leaves here . But I never do a heavy all at one defol at once, greater chance of stress. IMO.

I always clean up the real big fan leaves at around this point. I was actually doing some last night. Improves airflow and light penetration to lower bud sites.
