I guess I'll extend the shelving and have my carbon filter all the way to the left side. Then I'll just do:

Carbon filter --> Ducting --> Reflector --> Ducting --> Reflector --> Ducting --> 440CFM Fan --> Ducting --> Ceiling Vent Hole

Then I'll go ahead and patch up that 2nd hole in the ceiling. I'll probably be able to get this all done tomorrow along with sealing it, since I finally got the mylar.

yes thats how you want to set up the exhuast in there. and you shouldnt need a booster fan to bring in any fresh air. the negative peressure from your exhuast will pull fresh air from inside the room that the grow is in. you can make a small hole low on the doors. but the crack under the door should be fine..use a lighter, cigg, dubbie, etc to see if the cracks/holes or under the door are sucking air in to the grow room. this way there is NO way for BAD/STINKY air to get out. it has to go to the scubber. just make sure you seal up the hoods and ducting makeing sure they dont have holes or cracks that whould suck in stinky air....the mylar is going to be sick and help alot IMO just try and not wrinkle it you want it to be mirror like. i really want to see this up and running its a sweet spot for a grow, good luck.

I'm trying to think of different ways to go about scrubbing the air. I don't really want to redo everything..I like my setup the way it is. If I can make it work maybe we'll be ok. the only other way i can think of, is to keep it the way it is and add a small scruber to the hood at the left of the closet..but that way you have to come out of pocket and buy a other scruber..i think that DIY carbon fliter is cool for small micro/cab grows. but not for yours. i really think your underestimating the power of the plants odor.
dont be a lazy stoner just redo the exhuast = no spending money and no stinky air.

I'm definitely underestimating, you got me there. I'm far from a lazy stoner though haha. I genuinely like the way it's setup now. I would prefer spending some money to scrub the light cooling air, as opposed to fucking everything up just to save a buck lol.

Got a link to a small scrubber that would suffice? I really appreciate all of your help. I don't want you to think I'm straight up ignoring your advice, I just really really want to keep things the way they are even if it costs more.

dont have a link. but if you go to your local hydro shop and tell them what CFM fan you have theyll set you up. by the way what strain/s are you going with?

Closet should be completely set up and ready to grow tomorrow. Environmental control tests through Sunday. Germination scheduled for Monday (cause' my replacement timer isn't here yet). It'll be fully sealed so I can setup CO2 Supplementation when my money's back up.

All advice, criticism, etc. is welcome. If you have to be an asshole to get your point across then go ahead! I'll take anything as long as I learn and am able to perfect this grow.

Also, I'm planning to do 4 plants my first run. A 3'x2' SCROG (2"x2" holes) under each light. 2 plants each screen. Running the Pure Power Plant strain from Nirvana. What do you guys think I could expect as far as yield goes, assuming I have close to optimal conditions? I know there's many variables, but a ballpark number would be cool. Hi dude, I was looking at your lighting/odor control diagram ...it seems to be flawed .. the inline fan ..its in the wrong place...where it is at the moment it will suck air through the filter BUT when it gets to the T or Y connector is where you'll notice a problem ..you need another inline fan ...perhaps even 2 ....1 inline with the cool tubes and one above the Connector .....or you could just re position the filter at the end/ entrance to the cooltubes and just use the one inline fan ?!!

I will keep an eye on this thread looks interesting :) look forward to your next update,

^ My bad I just read on and see you pretty much have the venting problem covered.. Which Mylar are you gunna use? there's shiny Silver or Diamond Mylar - which reduces 'hot-spots' (which I use)...However I wanted to tell you there's an even better film/ reflective sheeting you can use : ORCA - Orca is ultra reflective and will help you yield upto 15% extra.. ITS EXPENSIVE BUT WORTH IT !! - I plan to upgrade to this film v.soon on my 'project'.

Do you plan on using a thermostat in your setup? or are your temps in perfect range? .. Oh! ..I may have read it already..but.. are you planning to use a hydro or Soil medium? Also I am interested in seeing how you install the Co2, this is something I plan to do on a smaller project in a TV Cabinet, I'll add a LINK below :-

I have a 6" passive intake connected to an OdorSoc..to filter incoming air and stop bugs etc from entering the grow chamber, it also stops any possible back-drafts..I am aware the fan is blowing not sucking but it still works very well like this in my Cab...

However in the LINK to the TV Cab above I run 2 separate rigs for Odor and light, and the fan suck air through the filter..I was aware this is the better recommended way to do it, but wanted to show you that you can also 'Blow' through a Carbon Filter..


Have you thought about applying UV-B light....its piss easy to install and gives your ladies an incredible THC boost :D ...I really look forward to seeing your progress Hope you don't mind me adding my 3 pics etc...If so I can remove them? if I am notified quickly :) Good job so far !! - ZTELTHY :leaf:

Sadly they're all closed around me :/ I'll look around though. I have until the flowering stage to have odor control taken care of so I'm good.

I'm using black/white poly sheeting. I've seen ORCA on Greners..I should have bought it honestly, but in reality it probably doesn't matter much. I'll be doing temperature control tests now that my mylar is up (pics to come), and then I'll know whether a thermostat is necessary or not. As for the CO2..I'm just not sure when I'll be able to install that.

OdorSok connected to your passive intake? I was thinking about throwing a dust shroom on my passive intake, but I thought that would restrict air flow too much. I'll give it a try and see, I mean there is a decent amount of negative pressure. I'm aware you can blow through a carbon filter, but they're designed to be sucked through and that's how I'll use them. I have thought about supplemental lighting. What do you think about this light? When would I want to run them, last 3 weeks of flower or something?

Cheers man :) The Black & White sheeting will work well... Maybe upgrade to ORCA at a later date? .. my only problem I have installing CO2 is figuring out how to put it on a timer/regulator and how to set the correct PPM for the room size and for how long? lol..so a few problems lol... I am aware C02 is heavier than o2 so the CO2 would need to be evenly dispersed over the top of the canopy. I also need to find out how bigger Co2 cannister I'd need...and how long they last for dependant on size etc..

Your Mushroom Cap is similar in concept, but being smaller it could restrict the air..With my 6" OdorSok pictured above, I have awesome negative pressure...so much so when I attempt to open the doors to the cab. the wind whistles as the door pulls against my efforts to open it.. and I can feel the air being pulled in through the OdorSok when the doors are closed :)

I'd give the Mushroom idea a go, or do as I did and go for the OdorSok.. as you can see from the colour of the OdorSok : it keeps a lot of grubby crap etc from passing through and around the plants environment ...and only really needs to be hoovered to clean it...although I replace it annually :)

I'll check out your LINK i a sec and let you know what I think etc :)... Oh I've been growing about 5 years now and have made 5 or 6 Cabs all pretty much from scratch and have used all lighting with the exception of Plasma Sulpher, and Mercury Halide ...

After my next go in the large cab...I will only be using the TV Cab, but still have high hope and a fist full more mods to throw at it :) :) - ZTELTHY :leaf:

You don't have to completely redo the venting system. What I would do to solve this problem is put one other hole in the ceiling and make the lighting ventilation a closed loop. So it would be cool air from the attic --> booster--> ducting --> reflector --> ducting --> reflector --> ducting --> booster --> to attic. It would be a closed loop, in this you would want to blow air through the system to prevent it from sucking out any unfiltered air through the hoods. This is of course if you are using sealed reflectors. This would allow you to manage your temperatures better as well (at least that is what I believe).

Not a bad idea. I never thought of that actually.

Everything's been on hold for a little bit..was recently institutionalized again and I'm working through some things. Hopefully I should get going before December ends. At least that's my plan at the moment.

I dont know about your attic but mine gets fucking hot in the summer without pumping heated air from your lights up there. I dont know how well it would work trying to cool your lights with hot air. Then again you might live somewhere where your attic is nice all year round and the hot air from your reflector wont affect it..

Yeah this could definitely be an issue where I'm at. I'll see how hot it gets up there next time I've got a ladder.

My mylar keeps getting sucked in cause' my closet is sealed and the exhaust fan is creating too much negative pressure..any ideas on how to combat this issue? Maybe nail the mylar to the floor or something idk. Looking forward to any suggestions.

Grows been on hold due to money issues and a few other things, but I want some ~DANK~ for 4/20 so just starting the grow like this. Doing 6 plants SOG style as that's the style I'll be using in my permanent OP.

From here on out: If you read anything you'd consider unnecessary details it is because I'm going to be using this thread for future reference in my next grows. I want to be somewhat detailed.

Started 6 plants last night at 9:00 P.M.
*4x - [PPP] Pure Power Plant
*1x - White Bag Seed (unknown strain)
*1x - Fat Brown Bag Seed (unknown strain)

Soaked root plugs in PH6.0 tap water for 5 minutes. Made hole in bottom of plug with pencil. Placed seed 'dimple' side up then plucked up some of the plug and filled in the hole. Placed rapid rooters in tub of water under humidome.

Running some experiments for the first run - Want to figure out best method of growing for when permanent OP is set up.
*PPP#1 - Transfer from plug --> solo cup --> 1. gal to finish || Lucas Formula nutes no supplements || Trim growth under canopy
*PPP#2 - Transfer from plug --> solo cup --> 1. gal to finish || Lucas Formula nutes no supplements || No trimming
*PPP#3 - Transfer from plug --> straight to 1 gal. || Lucas Formula nutes no supplements
*PPP#4 - Transfer from plug --> straight to 1 gal. || Supplement Lucas Formula with Bud Candy

Meth can be manufactured by an intelligent 10 y/o and a local Target or Walmart etc., that's my response to other said thread.

I had to take a 2 day trip. I decided it'd be best to take the humidome off and raise the light a couple inches. Too bad that wasn't a good idea..Came back to the tub of water completely dried out as well as my root plugs. Oh well..live and learn.
