This is the way to do it for home growers. I have a personal plant I hung whole in a cold, dark room since Oct of last year, and it's still not dry dry. It's still just right. ... However, the conditions are ~55 degrees, and 55%rh, so it's in it's right environment. Seems to be getting stronger the longer I let it hang there. Just took some top colas earlier this evening... still nice and smooth.
that sounds freaking amazing

im sorry for spamming you post growtician but i read alot of books and i just wanted too give my 2 cents,

so in a book i read it says that when you chop the plant as a "whole" and separate the entire plant from the rootball the metabolic processes within the plants stem's continue for 72 hours after separating the plant from the root ball.

so within this 72 hour period since the plant has no root's it breaks down chlorophyll sugars and starches within the buds.

so because the metabolic processes only continue for 72 hours, i hang the plant as a whole for 72 hours than after i break it down into little pieces and hang dry those individually :).

i got this tip from ed rosenthal :) the guru of ganja :)

Is that to speed up the drying process after the breakdown of chlorophyll?

So I have a question.my first few days of drying the humidity was 55 down to 45. I added a humidifier in the room which brought the RH to 59-61%. That’s been going for a few days now. I checked the buds today and the outside is pretty crunchy like dry but the stems don’t snap. Am I ok to continue drying or what adjustments should I make? There was a stronger grassy smell that’s seems to be diminishing and developing into more of a weed smell. Not sure what that’s about… Thank you for helping.

If it's been a week or close to, you're good to jar/bag it up and continue the curing process from there. I generally dry on the stems for a week and then jar it up and burp it every day.

I'd take a handful and toss it in a jar with a hygrometer for a couple hours and see what it does. If it skyrockets, keep it hanging for a bit more. If it is slowly creeping up to 60%, it may be time to jar and start burping.

im gonna agree here... It'll only take a few hours to get a good reading of the jar. If your jar hits 61%....take the rest down. If you see 70%... then wait a bit longer. .... oh, and open your jar back up.

OP this looks like a great haul from the footprint you had available. Great journal

It held at 64% so I’ve been burping it. Thank you for all of the advice. It weighed in at 4.5 oz of medium sized nugs and 1.5 oz of trim and popcorn buds. The smell is really starting develop as it’s burping. Happy to be away from the hay smell.
