Yeah MD seems to have quite the root system. lol She popped out roots all over the place without missing a beat when I cloned her and the MD in my tent has a thick root mass... She emptied a full 4 gallons of water/nutrients in 3 and a half days! I just refilled her bucket up to the brim last night with a new mix... she's quite the hog. Anyway, I'm blazed and rambling. Not sure where I was going with that. lol
That is a thirsty bitch!!! Lol, def gonna be a monster.

It's almost gotten to the point where I'm toying with the idea of taking out the Athena clone to give her room to spread out.

Ignore the date on the pictures - forgot to update it.

Minerva (MD) has a mutant leaf:

I've seen fan leaves like this in pictures which grow out pistils or a little bud there but this is a first for me personally seeing anything of the sort in-person. You can't really see in the pictures, but it looks like the petiole/stem sort of speared on up through the middle of the leaf, where the blades join together, and turned into that single blade on the top side. Neat-o.

I'm going to try to get a picture or two of Minerva when the lights first turn on tonight and before all the color gets washed out by the HPS orange/yellow.

Thought BKB might appreciate these pictures - this is the root mass on my multiple root system experiment plant that's in one of those little coffee buckets:

I think everyone would appreciate those pics...Damn bro those are some serious roots and they are so healthy looking. Great work. I hope mine can look like that one day.
Nice mating cab, hopefully some nice seeds come out of there!!! Might want to play some good Kenny G music for them when the lights go out.....

Peace

Glad you like bro. I'll stick to playing some Pink Floyd for them and skip the Kenny G though. lol

I'm about to give up on the multiple root system attempt. Kind of disappointing but if something was going to happen it would have by now. So next experiment with that clone is going to be root pruning. Going to remove about 2/3rds of the root ball tomorrow morning. And I'll try aerial layering a branch at a future date and see if I can't get that root system established alongside the original in the bucket as an alternative.

Can you smoke the roots or make a tea? LOL My MD roots are not brown anymore but the pH is 7 should I lower it or leave it? She looks great

Peace

Haha, I wish. You can mix up some top-off water and pH it to about 5, and methodically add it in, until the reservoir pH gets back to 5.8-6.2'ish. Are you using tap water or bottled/distilled/RO?

Using water from the machine, its .25 a gallon and I only need a half a gallon to fill the res. I use tap for my soil plants. The mini dwc I buy the water.

EDIT: what size Air pump is that you got hanging? Its for all 4 coffee pots?

I'd go ahead and bump up the nutrient strength a bit next time you mix a new batch up. pH should remain a little more stable then. She is on a low amount right now right?

50% dosage as of now, started her in 25%. I check the res just now and noticed that there was some nute residue on the bottom of the pot so I stirred it back up really good with a plastic fork and waited a few minutes and checked the pH and it was still 7.0. I added some top off water that was pH to 5.0 and now she is at 6.0 so I am satisfied with that and will leave her like that. She looks real good so I am not sweating it. Do you think I should bump her to 75% or 100% next res change?

Tao those roots are so insane looking! hard to believe that those can fit in that coffee can!
Gives me hope but I am a nOOb @ hydro so as long as its alive Im happy!!! Cant wait to see some pics of the roots after they get clipped Tao....

When I changed the bucket on that plant last time, I had a hard time getting everything back in the new bucket. Definitely a good candidate to try root pruning. lol

It's awesome to have a fast growing, little plant to experiment on and try all those things you think about but are too afraid to try on a producing plant.

I'd try 75% first BKB. Just want to have the nutrient strength strong enough to maintain an ok pH for a week. If you go really strong on the nutrients in a little reservoir, you'll risk problems if they start drinking more than feeding (solution strength will skyrocket as the water-level drops). And being light on nutrients is fine as long as you are staying on top of weekly reservoir changes (look at that healthy plant you have going now as proof).

In the (now) breeding cab:

MD and Athena sure take their time when it comes to flowering...

It doesn't come through well in the pictures with the lights on but the Snow White has an almost blue'ish tinge to it's color.

Damn those are some huge balls!!!! Yeah MD does take a while to flower, I havent had one show sex under 12 days, usually after 14 days on all but one of mine.

I think my big MD in the tent took 15 days if I remember right and she's taking her time like Athena to really get going. I'll bet the SW male is going to be done a bit early for them but that will work out since I don't need an all-out pollination. I have a glass dome I think I'm going to put over him soon and as soon as I get a little pollen bagged he'll be removed.

I'm kind of curious to see what those little clones will yield in there w/ about 200 watts of lighting - might try a SoG style deal in there with little clones in those coffee buckets just for a little something this summer.

I didn't think Minerva would get so tall considering the short veg time. From now on I'm going to go from small clones out of the cabinet when possible.

Right before I took the pictures I pruned a bunch of her lower branches off and some on the side next to Athena to keep the light clear - and hopefully I can leave her alone now that's she fully flowering.
